Social Media Strategist
Actively Reviewing the ApplicationsCAB Experiences
Job Description
Role Title
Social Media Strategist (Content and Data)
3–5 years experience
A. Seniority
This is a mid-junior role for someone with 3–5 years of experience in social media. The candidate should have hands-on exposure to managing platforms, reading insights and executing promotions. They should still be in a growth stage where they can develop into a more senior strategic role.
B. Core Role Summary
The Social Media Strategist will manage CAB’s social media through a combination of content intelligence and platform data.
This role is not just execution. The person should understand how social media behaves culturally and technically, and use that knowledge to guide the creative team and shape how CAB communicates online.
The role sits between content awareness, platform knowledge and data interpretation. The objective is to ensure CAB’s social media output is informed, strategic and optimised.
C. Core Responsibilities
1. Content Intelligence
The candidate must actively track what is happening across social media.
This means observing how brands, creators and public figures are using platforms, identifying emerging formats and understanding what kinds of content are gaining traction. They should naturally consume social media and translate those observations into insights for the team.
Responsibilities include:
- Monitoring platform trends, formats and behaviours
- Tracking what leading brands and individuals are doing online
- Identifying content styles, storytelling approaches and engagement patterns
- Turning these observations into insights that can guide content decisions
2. Platform Data and Insights
The candidate must be comfortable working with platform analytics and backend tools.
They should know how to read platform insights, understand what is working and use that information to guide content decisions.
Responsibilities include:
-Reading and interpreting analytics across social platforms
-Using insights to recommend ways to improve engagement
-Understanding platform behaviour, reach mechanics and engagement patterns
-Maintaining performance tracking for CAB’s social channels
3. Promotions and Reach Optimisation
The candidate must have hands-on experience with social media promotions.
This is not a performance marketing role. The expectation is that they understand how to use small paid boosts so that content reaches the right audience and improves engagement.
Responsibilities include:
- Running paid promotions across platforms
- Selecting the right audiences for boosted content
- Using limited budgets to increase reach and engagement
- Understanding targeting and promotion mechanics
The candidate should have personally executed promotions, not just supervised them.
D. Responsibilities Within CAB
1. Internal Content Flow System
The candidate will create a system that ensures information flows from different teams to the central CAB team for social media.
This includes building a process where teams submit relevant updates, work or ideas and structuring that information so it can become social media content. The goal is to ensure CAB’s social presence reflects ongoing work across the organisation.
2. End-to-End Social Media Management
The role will handle CAB’s social media operations from planning to publishing.
Responsibilities include content planning, calendar management, publishing, platform optimisation and performance tracking.
3. Advisory Role to the Creative Team
The candidate will guide the creative team on how content should adapt to social media environments.
This includes advising on formats, platform suitability and structural changes that improve engagement. They will help translate creative work into social-first content.
4. Client Project Support
When CAB works on external brand projects that involve social media, this individual will support the brand team in a servicing role.
Responsibilities include supporting social media deliverables, contributing social strategy inputs and ensuring platform best practices are applied to client work.
E. Skills and Competencies
The candidate should demonstrate strong familiarity with Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, X and emerging platforms.
They should be comfortable working with platform insights and analytics dashboards. They should have practical experience running boosted posts and promotions.
The role requires strong research ability, awareness of online culture and the ability to translate data into content recommendations.
They should also be able to communicate clearly with creative and brand teams.
F. What This Role Is Not
This is not purely an execution role.
The expectation is that the person brings awareness, insight and optimisation thinking to CAB’s social media ecosystem. The role combines content awareness, data literacy and platform understanding so that CAB’s social media remains culturally relevant and strategically informed.
