Project background:
The ADAPT-TB project aims to improve the diagnosis of pediatric tuberculosis in India by evaluating the use of non-invasive, child-friendly specimens (stool, tongue swabs and urine) along with other routine samples across multiple indigenous molecular diagnostic platforms in the TB diagnostic landscape.
The project will be implemented across 11 tertiary care facilities across India in close collaboration with the National TB Elimination Programme (NTEP), and stakeholders at the national, state and district levels. The study will generate evidence on diagnostic accuracy and operational feasibility to inform national scale-up
Job description:
The Site coordinator will work closely with the FIND project team, site investigators, and relevant stakeholders at the district level for overall project site coordination including coordination of implementation of participant enrolment, laboratory, operational, data management and reporting activities under the ADAPT-TB project at the assigned project site. The specific activities & responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
Position Summary:
- Coordinating day-to-day implementation of project activities at the assigned study site in close collaboration with the Pediatric, Microbiology and other relevant departments.
- Supporting participant screening, enrolment, informed consent/assent procedures, and participant/caregiver engagement in accordance with the approved protocol and SOPs.
- Coordinating participant flow and study procedures, including specimen collection, laboratory testing, documentation, and follow-up activities across participating departments/ sub-sites (e.g; Hub, Spoke, IRL etc)
- Coordinating specimen transportation between the collection and testing site as per project SOP.
- Mobilizing participants from Spoke health facilities to the Hub tertiary facility for specimen collection and testing.
- Supporting implementation of laboratory workflows, including coordination with laboratory personnel, ensuring availability of consumables/ kits required for diagnostic testing procedures as per the study protocol, and resolution of routine operational issues.
- Coordinating site-level trainings, orientations, and implementation of study SOPs in collaboration with the FIND project team and supporting dissemination of project-related information to relevant hospital staff.
- Supporting data collection, source documentation, data entry, validation, and maintenance of study records through the project MIS as per good documentation practices.
- Coordinating with the study site to ensure that all children diagnosed of TB under the project is initiated on anti-tuberculosis treatment
- Supporting follow-up of participants initiated on TB treatment to support the clinical diagnostic criteria as per study protocol.
- Coordinating with site investigators, hospital administration, NTEP officials, laboratory teams, and other stakeholders to facilitate smooth implementation of project activities.
- Supporting inventory management, forecasting, and appropriate utilization of project consumables, and equipment provided under the study, and any other relevant study materials at the site.
- Participating in site initiation, site trainings, monitoring visits, review meetings, supporting implementation of corrective actions, and site closeout visits as required.
- Preparing routine site updates to support periodic review of the project, documentation, and reports for the FIND project team.
- Supervising the laboratory technician at the project site
- Any other task assigned from time to time.
Experience/Skills Required
- M.Sc. in Microbiology, Medical Microbiology, Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or related disciplines.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in implementation of public health projects, clinical research, or hospital-based research studies.
- Experience in participant recruitment, informed consent/assent procedures, study documentation, and coordination of clinical research activities.
- Ability to communicate properly between the doctors, patient/guardian & the site investigators.
- Good understanding of microbiology laboratory practices, molecular diagnostic workflows, specimen handling, and biosafety.
- Experience working with pediatric populations and/or participant-facing clinical research activities will be preferred.
- Experience in coordinating multidisciplinary teams within tertiary care hospitals and working with clinicians, laboratory personnel, and program stakeholders.
- Experience in coordinating trainings, meetings, or capacity-building activities for healthcare workers will be preferred.
- Experience in project documentation, data collection, data entry, and use of electronic data capture systems.
- Strong organizational, coordination, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
- Good computer knowledge including MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Must own a two-wheeler for official travel between Hub site and project locations.
