Adani Power Limited (APL): Adani Power Limited (APL), a part of the diversified Adani Group, is the largest private thermal power producer in India. We have a power generation capacity of 15,250 MW comprising thermal power plants in Gujarat, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, and Jharkhand, and a 40 MW solar power project in Gujarat.

Job Purpose: This role is responsible to manage the shift operations within the thermal power plant, ensuring operational efficiency, safety, and compliance with all procedures and regulations. This role will manage the operations of all units, switchyard, and Balance of Plant (BoP), and coordinate with various stakeholders to optimize plant performance.

Responsibilities

Section Head - Shift In-charge (Plant Operations)

Operational Management And Efficiency

Monitor operations of thermal power plant, switchyard, and Balance of Plant with optimum efficiency.

Monitor plant operations and handle emergencies including shut-down of units and load throw-off to control generation as per requirements.

Monitor DSM (Deviation Settlement Mechanism) and operations of all units to reduce DSM loss.

Report shift activities in E-Log books and ensure all documents are being filled by the shift team.

Safety And Permit To Work System

Monitor issuance and cancellation of Permit as per PTW systems.

Track and manage availability of emergency equipment and firefighting systems.

Manage emergency equipment trials and restoration of process and equipment.

Coordination And Communication

Monitor loading of machines, switchyard equipment, and ensuring coordination with LDC, NLDC, and SLDC.

Instructions to desk and field operators for safe operations.

Coordinate with all internal stakeholders for ensuring smooth operations.

Escalate plant operations-related problems events to the Section Head.

Maintenance And Emergency Response

Follow up with maintenance departments for defect resolutions.

Ensure routine operational activities such as the lineup of the unit and its auxiliaries, changeover of equipment, routine testing of protection and annunciation systems during the shift.

Support in recommissioning of units after AOH and COH.

Monitor Unit wise operations and handling emergencies including load throw off, unit tripping, equipment tripping, and generation loss.

Business Sustainability

Ensure adherence to IMS, AWMS, DISHA, CHETNA guidelines within the department.

Ensure the safety of personnel and equipment through proper training and adherence to safety protocols.

Digitization And Automation

Lead and execute comprehensive digitization strategies and automation solutions to optimize operational efficiency.

Review and implement process and system improvements, adopting newer technologies and innovative ideas.

People And Team Engagement

Drive and enhance employee engagement and retention across the team to sustain a positive workplace culture.

Lead, inspire, and mentor the team to foster a high-performance culture and ensure cross-skilling through job rotation, technical and behavioral training.

Development of subordinates and inputs on TNI ensure proper training.

Qualifications

Educational Qualification:

BE/B.tech in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or a related field from a recognized institution.

Work Experience (Range Of Years)

Minimum of 12+ years of experience in power plant operations with a focus on thermal power plants

Preferred Industry

Experience in the power generation industry, specifically with thermal power plants, is highly preferred.
