Senior Security & Vigilance Officer (Campus Operations)

To ensure campus-wide safety, discipline, and conflict prevention through proactive surveillance, rapid response, and strict enforcement of institutional security protocols. The role demands command presence, operational judgment, and the ability to de-escalate volatile situations on the spot.

This is a hands-on vigilance and control role, not a desk assignment.

Key Responsibilities

1. Campus Security Command & Control

• Lead and supervise all security personnel across:
• Academic blocks
• Hostels
• Common areas
• Entry/exit points
• Enforce ID compliance, access control, curfew rules, and movement restrictions
• Ensure zero tolerance for unauthorised gatherings, outsiders, or violations

2. Conflict Prevention & Rapid Response

• Act as first responder and on-ground commander during:
• Student altercations
• Group conflicts
• Aggressive behaviour or mob formation
• Isolate individuals, disperse crowds, and restore order immediately
• Use authority, presence, and protocol, not delay or negotiation drift
• Coordinate with local police only when escalation threshold is crossed

3. Vigilance, Surveillance & Intelligence

• Monitor campus behaviour patterns to identify:
• Brewing tensions
• Repeat offenders
• Organised student group activity
• Conduct routine patrols (day & night), surprise checks, and vulnerability assessments
• Maintain incident logs, violation records, and behavioural reports

4. Enforcement of Institutional Discipline

• Support the university’s disciplinary framework by:
• Documenting violations with evidence
• Issuing on-the-spot warnings where authorised
• Recommending immediate interim measures (restriction of movement, hostel action, access denial)
• Ensure security action is swift, proportionate, and recorded

5. Crisis & Emergency Management

• Lead response during:
• Physical violence
• Medical emergencies
• Fire, evacuation, or external threats
• Conduct regular mock drills and readiness checks
• Ensure coordination between security, administration, hostel wardens, and medical teams

6. Protocol, Compliance & Reporting

• Ensure adherence to:
• University security SOPs
• Local legal requirements
• Campus safety regulations
• Submit weekly security reports and incident analyses to leadership
• Flag risks early—do not wait for escalation

Candidate Profile (Essential)

Background

• Retired or VRS personnel from:
• Indian Armed Forces
• Police Services
• CAPFs (CRPF, CISF, BSF, ITBP, etc.)
• Minimum 15–20 years of service, with experience in:
• Command
• Field operations
• Crowd control or internal security

Core Competencies

• Strong command presence and situational authority
• Ability to act decisively under pressure
• Skilled in conflict de-escalation without loss of control
• Clear communication and report writing
• High integrity, discretion, and institutional loyalty

Preferred Attributes

• Prior experience in:
• Educational institutions
• Industrial or township security
• Large residential facilities
• Familiarity with CCTV systems, access control, and surveillance protocols
• Physically fit and operationally active (not ceremonial)

• Not limited to gate duty or vendor supervision
