The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in the food, beverage, or CPG industries and thrives in dynamic, high-growth environments. This leader will drive global sourcing strategy, strengthen supplier partnerships, optimize costs, and ensure the highest standards of quality, sustainability, and regulatory compliance.

The Role

What You'll Do

Strategic Sourcing & Procurement

  • Develop and execute the company’s global sourcing strategy for raw materials, packaging, and ingredients, aligning with business growth and cost targets
  • Identify and qualify new suppliers across domestic and international markets
  • Negotiate supplier contracts, including pricing, terms, and service-level agreements (SLAs)
  • Optimize sourcing models, including dual/multi-sourcing, to mitigate risk and ensure continuity of supply

Supplier Management & Relationship Building

  • Establish long-term strategic partnerships with key suppliers and co-manufacturers
  • Lead supplier performance management, including regular business reviews, scorecards, and corrective action plans
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Quality, R&D, and Operations to ensure supplier compliance with product specs, certifications (e.g., organic, non-GMO), and food safety standards

Cost Management & Operational Efficiency

  • Lead cost savings initiatives and value engineering projects without compromising quality
  • Monitor commodity markets and input costs to proactively manage price volatility
  • Collaborate with Finance to develop standard costs and forecast COGS impacts

Risk Management & Compliance

  • Ensure adherence to regulatory standards (FDA, USDA, Prop 65, etc.) and ethical sourcing practices
  • Maintain documentation and traceability for audits, recalls, and certifications
  • Assess and mitigate sourcing risks including geopolitical, supply chain disruptions, and ESG concerns

Team Leadership & Development

  • Build and lead a high-performing sourcing team; hire, coach, and develop talent as needed
  • Establish sourcing policies, procedures, and best practices to support scalability and transparency
  • Act as a thought leader and internal advocate for strategic sourcing excellence

What We're Looking For

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in strategic sourcing, procurement, or supply chain management, with at least 3-5 years in a leadership role.
  • Demonstrated success in leading complex vendor negotiations, developing strategic supplier partnerships, and driving cross-functional initiatives.

Required Skills

  • Exceptional analytical skills with a robust, data-driven approach to decision-making and problem-solving.
  • Outstanding communication, stakeholder management, and team leadership abilities.
  • Experience in a startup or high-growth environment is highly desirable.
  • Proven experience in international trade (import and export) is highly preferred.
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools and ERP systems (e.g., Oracle NetSuite, Microsoft Excel, or similar).
  • Knowledge of global industry regulations and compliance standards.
  • Ability to work effectively across diverse teams in procurement, logistics, and operations.
  • Willingness to travel 1-2 times a month, including international travel, for trade shows and vendor visits.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English, Spanish, or a second language is a significant asset.
  • Sourcing or purchasing experience in food, supplements, or CPG industries is a plus.

This is a remote position with up to 25% travel.
