A Day in the Life of a Senior Mainframe Systems Administrator:

As a Senior Mainframe Systems Administrator, you will manage and maintain core z/OS and z/VM platforms that support Western & Southern's critical business applications. You will oversee system performance, capacity, security administration, and operational reliability. Your day includes monitoring system health, implementing maintenance and upgrades, coordinating with internal IT teams on incident resolution, and ensuring stable and compliant mainframe operations. This role suits someone who enjoys deep technical problem‑solving, structured operational work, and maintaining high‑availability environments in a financial setting. Key Tools & Technologies You’ll Work With:

• z/OS: Core operating system administration and maintenance.

• z/VM: Virtualization management for mainframe workloads.

• JCL: Job control for batch processing and operational workflows.

• Security administration and access management

• SDSF/ISPF: System monitoring, analysis, and command interfaces.

• Performance monitoring and capacity planning.

• Mainframe automation tools (e.g., OPS/MVS, System Automation).

• Networking and storage utilities supporting mainframe operations.
