Your Role And Responsibilities (Mandatory)

This is a Senior DevOps Engineer role in Cloud and AI platform, reporting to the Vice President in ABB Ability™ Genix - industrial analytics and artificial intelligence Platform in business area Process Automation located in Bangalore. You will be working with the Product delivery team including Platform Services at Ability Innovation Center (AIC), home to the largest technology and engineering pool in ABB globally and is a part of ABB Global Industries and Services Private Limited, a subsidiary of ABB. It is based in Bangalore, the silicon-valley of India. Its unique infrastructure places research, development, engineering, and service teams under one roof, increasing collaboration and reducing time to market, with no compromise on quality.

Your Responsibilities

Modern Automation of CI-CD Pipeline – must have -Azure - CICD

• Design and architect CI/CD pipelines for automated build, test, and deployment processes.
• Implement automation and orchestration to streamline environment provisioning and configuration.
• Incorporate security scanning, vulnerability assessments, and compliance checks into the CI/CD process.
• Define & Design deployment strategies to minimize downtime and risks during software updates.
• Create documentation, provide training, and facilitate knowledge transfer on CI/CD best practices and procedures.
  
  

GitOps Implementation: - Nice to have -

• Define and establish GitOps practices and workflows for managing infrastructure and application deployments.
• Set up Git repositories for infrastructure as code (IaC) and Kubernetes manifests.
• Implement GitOps tooling (e.g., ArgoCD, Flux) for automated synchronization of Git repositories with environments.
• Ensure changes to infrastructure and application configurations are managed via Git pull requests.
  
  

Service Management and Developer Portal : must have

• Integrate toolings (such as Backstage.io) as a developer portal and central hub for managing services and resources.
• Customize the tooling to provide a catalog of services, components, and APIs.
• Implement access control and authentication mechanisms to secure resources.
• Integrate Develpoer Portal with CI/CD pipelines for service registration and documentation generation.
  
  

Workflow Automation:

• Develop automation scripts and workflows that leverage GitOps and Developer portals to streamline infrastructure and deployment processes.
• Define automated processes for service creation and updates, ensuring consistency.
  
  

Monitoring and Reporting: Must have

• Implement monitoring and reporting features in developer portal to provide insights into service and deployment status.
• Enable tracking of deployment history and performance metrics.
  
  

Education and Adoption: Good to have

• Educate teams on GitOps, Developer Portal, and CI/CD principles and encourage their adoption.
• Foster a culture of collaboration and knowledge sharing within the organization.his knowledge to drive innovation and maintain the platform's competitive edge.
  
  

Your background


Academic Background & Experience

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Proven experience (2-6 years) as a tech acumen working with software engineering teams.
• Expertise in designing and architecting CI/CD pipelines for automated build, test, and deployment processes.
• Experience with Git repository management and Git branching strategies.
• Proficiency in automation and orchestration tools Terraform). – Must have
• Knowledge of security best practices, including security scanning and compliance checks. – Integrating “sonarcube”/ ” metadefender” /”Trivy”
• Strong expertise in developing automation scripts and workflows that streamline infrastructure and deployment processes.
• Experience with deployment strategies such as blue-green deployments and canary releases. – Good to have
• Expsoure to work with deployment experts in defining and establishing GitOps practices and workflows.
• Excellent documentation skills and the ability to communicate complex concepts.
• Previous experience providing training and facilitating knowledge transfer on CI/CD Principles & best practices. - Good to have
• Strong communication and collaboration skills to foster a culture of knowledge sharing within the organization.
