The Role: Why You Matter

As a Senior Data Scientist 1, you are the engine of our GenAI innovation. You will dive deep into the world of Large Language Models (LLMs) to solve real-world healthcare challenges—from automating clinical documentation to revolutionizing how providers search for patient insights.

This is a hands-on role where you will think big and do good, transforming raw data into "customer delight" through the power of Generative AI.

Your Day-to-Day at ModMed

• Save Time through Automation: Design and build production-ready LLM solutions for clinical summarization, semantic search, and intelligent assistants.
• Build & Refine: Fine-tune open-source models (LLaMA, Mistral) and leverage commercial APIs to create the most efficient, accurate tools for doctors.
• Master the RAG Stack: Architect and maintain Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) pipelines using vector databases like Pinecone or Weaviate.
• Experiment & Iterate: Use prompt engineering and few-shot learning to solve complex specialty-specific use cases, moving quickly from prototype to production.
• Ensure Quality: Conduct rigorous evaluations to minimize hallucinations and maximize factual accuracy—because in healthcare, precision is everything.
• Collaborate & Storytell: Work alongside MLOps and Data Engineering to scale your models, and present your findings to leadership through compelling, data-driven storytelling.
  
  

The Essentials

What You Bring to the Table

• Experience: 5–8 years in Data Science/ML, with at least 2+ years of dedicated experience in LLMs or Generative AI.
• The Toolkit: Mastery of Python and the GenAI ecosystem (Hugging Face Transformers, LangChain, LlamaIndex, PyTorch).
• Technical Depth: A solid understanding of attention mechanisms, embeddings, and transfer learning.
• Deployment Savvy: Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Architecture: Hands-on experience with vector databases, document chunking, and inference optimization.

• Experience with LLMOps pipelines and model lifecycle management.
• A background in healthcare data or clinical automation.
• Exposure to multi-modal GenAI (integrating text with images or audio).
• A deep interest in AI ethics, privacy, and hallucination mitigation.
