Job Description

Spencer’s Retail, part of the RPSG Group, is looking for a professional who will lead and manage the end-to-end HR function across the East and East UP region, aligning people practices with Spencer’s business goals. The role focuses on talent acquisition, employee engagement, compliance, grievance handling, store performance enablement, and strategic HR delivery that drives business KPIs (top-line and bottom-line).


Key Responsibilities

As a Retail HR Head, you will drive business-aligned HR initiatives, manage operations, ensure compliance, enable talent development, lead hiring, enhance engagement, control attrition, and partner with stakeholders to build high-performing, productive, and compliant store teams.


Business & Financial:

  • Drive HR initiatives that contribute to achievement of business KPIs—sales growth, productivity, and profitability.
  • Adhere to and manage the regional HR budget effectively.


Operational HR:

  • Ensure end-to-end employee lifecycle management – from onboarding to exit.
  • Plan and execute structured store visits to engage with frontline employees and assess HR health.
  • Oversee smooth and timely execution of new store HR setups and team ramp-up.
  • Monitor and improve store employee performance management practices.
  • Ensure timely payroll and reimbursements.
  • Ensure compliance with all statutory labor regulations.
  • Address and resolve employee grievances promptly and effectively.
  • Manage HR MIS and systems implementation for tracking and governance.
  • Ensure hygiene level at stores.


Talent & Capability Building:

  • Identify and nurture high-potential employees across the region.
  • Roll out training and development interventions aligned with skill gaps and business needs.
  • Lead talent engagement initiatives to enhance workplace culture and productivity.
  • Plan and execute region-wide retention strategies, especially for HiPo talent.
  • Manage attrition proactively through insights and interventions.
  • Managing the brand staff service level in line of Spencer's customer service parameters.


Recruitment & Onboarding:

  • Drive timely and quality hiring across levels to support business expansion.
  • Build strong sourcing networks aligned with regional manpower requirements.
  • Ensure seamless induction and cultural assimilation of new hires.


Stakeholder & People Management:

  • Partner closely with business leaders and Store Directors to translate business goals into HR strategies.
  • Engage and support store teams with consistent communication, coaching, and problem-solving.
  • Build relationships with external partners and government bodies for regional HR facilitation.
  • Working with the vendors of security and housekeeping to ensure standardization in payment and 100% adherence to compliances

Experience/Skills/Qualification Required

  • Education: MBA in HR
  • Experience: 12-15 years in a generalist HR role, preferably in retail/FMCG/QSR
