Full Stack Developer & Product Owner

Job Description
Full Stack Developer — Build It Like You Own It
We're looking for a Full Stack Developer who thinks like a founder. You'll be joining the first core team of a Harvard Business School-founded startup, which means you won't just be writing code — you'll be shaping a product from the ground up, making decisions that matter, and taking real ownership of what gets built and why.
This is not an execution role. If you thrive in clarity and defined tickets, this isn't the right fit. If you thrive in ambiguity, care deeply about user outcomes, and want your fingerprints on every layer of a product, read on.
What You'll Own
- Full end-to-end features — from understanding the user problem to shipping, measuring, and iterating
- Technical architecture decisions that balance speed, scalability, and business priority
- Scalable backend services and APIs built on AWS Lambda (Python)
- Responsive, high-performance frontend experiences in React.js
- Cloud infrastructure using AWS CDK — you define it, you own it
- Database design and optimization across SQL and NoSQL (PostgreSQL, MongoDB, DynamoDB)
- Integration with third-party APIs and services
- Code quality standards, deployment workflows, and engineering best practices
- Honest pushback — if something shouldn't be built yet, you'll say so and explain why
What You'll Bring to Product Conversations
- You ask why before how — understanding user needs and business context before writing a line of code
- You can translate ambiguous ideas from the founding team into scoped, prioritized, shippable features
- You think about trade-offs: build vs. buy, speed vs. scalability, now vs. later
- You track what you ship — you care whether it actually worked
Technical Skills We're Looking For
- Strong hands-on experience with React.js, JavaScript (ES6+), HTML, and CSS
- Solid backend development experience with modern frameworks
- Hands-on experience with AWS Lambda, especially Python-based development
- AWS CDK for infrastructure as code
- REST APIs and microservices architecture
- Databases — PostgreSQL, MongoDB, DynamoDB
- Authentication and authorization — JWT, OAuth
- Git and modern development workflows
The Kind of Person Who'll Thrive Here
You've probably been in roles where you felt limited — too many approvals, too little context, too far from the decisions that matter. You're looking for a place where your judgment is trusted, your ideas are heard, and what you build actually reaches users. You're comfortable not knowing all the answers, but you're not comfortable with shipping something you don't believe in.
Why This Role
- Direct access to and collaboration with the founding team
- Real influence over the technical roadmap and product direction
- A seat at the table from day one — not after you've "proven yourself"
- The kind of early-stage experience that shapes careers
