Position: R&D Manager – NPD (Modular Kitchen)

Department: Research & Development

Location: Bhiwandi Factory

Industry: Modular Kitchen / Furniture Manufacturing

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced R&D Manager – New Product Development (NDP) to lead the design, development, and industrialization of modular kitchen products. The role requires close coordination with Design, Production, Purchase, QC, and Sales teams to develop innovative, cost-effective, and manufacturable products aligned with market trends and company strategy.

Key Responsibilities

New Product Development (NDP)

Lead end-to-end New Product Development for modular kitchen systems
Develop new carcass designs, shutters, finishes, accessories integration, and modules
Convert concepts into production-ready designs

Design & Engineering

Work with Design team on product architecture, detailing, and standardization
Ensure designs are optimized for manufacturing, assembly, and installation
Approve technical drawings, specifications, and design revisions

Costing & Commercial Feasibility

Prepare and validate BOM, BOQ, MBOM for new products
Work with Purchase & Estimation teams for cost reduction and value engineering
Ensure products meet target cost and margin goals

Factory & Cross-Functional Coordination

Coordinate closely with Production, Paint, QC, and Dispatch teams
Support trial production, pilot runs, and resolve manufacturing issues
Implement design changes based on shop-floor feedback

Quality & Compliance

Define quality standards for new products and materials
Ensure compliance with ISO processes and internal SOPs
Reduce rework and improve first-time-right production

Market & Trend Analysis

Study market trends, competitor products, and customer requirements
Benchmark products for functionality, aesthetics, and cost
Propose innovation in materials, finishes, hardware, and mechanisms

Team Leadership

Lead and mentor R&D engineers, designers, and junior team members
Set goals, timelines, and performance benchmarks for R&D team

Required Skills & Expertise

Strong knowledge of modular kitchen systems and furniture manufacturing
Expertise in NDP lifecycle management
Hands-on experience with BOM / BOQ / MBOM
Knowledge of sheet metal, wood-based panels, finishes, hardware, and accessories
Ability to translate design intent into scalable manufacturing solutions

Software Skills

AutoCAD / SolidWorks / similar CAD tools
Knowledge of Winner Software (preferred)
ERP / PLM system exposure is an added advantage

Experience

8–15 years experience in R&D / NDP within modular kitchen or furniture industry
Prior experience in factory-based product development is mandatory

Education

B.E / B.Tech / Diploma in Mechanical, Production, Furniture Design, or related field
Interior Design background with strong manufacturing exposure may also be considered
