Job Description
Design high-voltage cable accessories for renewables
Join NKT’s expanding HVAC Accessories R&D team and help accelerate the renewable energy transformation. In this role, you will design and develop high-voltage power cable accessories that enable reliable transmission for land, power-from-shore, and offshore wind applications. Working from G3C, Chennai, you will collaborate across our global Technology organization with colleagues in Sweden, Germany, and India, applying modern design methods, mechanical/electrical simulations, and advanced materials knowledge. This is a chance to shape innovative solutions, optimize manufacturability and cost, and enhance performance in a purpose-driven, international environment. Do you want to turn your design skills into impact for a greener grid?
Manage design and simulation for HV accessories
You will participate in product development projects for high-voltage power cable accessories, transforming specifications and concepts into manufacturable designs. Using 3D CAD (SolidWorks, Creo), you will create models and drawings, interpret mechanical/electrical simulation results, and apply materials knowledge (conductive, insulation, semi-conductive). You will oversee DFX and DFMEA processes, tolerance stack-up, and cost optimization, ensuring designs meet IEC/IEEE/ANSI standards, QHES, and sustainability requirements. Close collaboration with global specialists and suppliers is key to solving technical challenges and validating product performance through testing.
Your responsibility will be to:
Curious, collaborative engineer motivated by electrification
You are a diligent, future-oriented individual who enjoys turning requirements into elegant, practical designs. You communicate clearly with cross-functional partners and suppliers, value diverse perspectives, and thrive in an iterative environment where testing and validation sharpen your solutions. You balance creativity with rigor, are comfortable interpreting simulations, and bring a continuous-improvement mindset that emphasizes safety, quality, and sustainability. If you focus on electrification and want your work to accelerate climate goals, you’ll flourish in our collaborative, international setup.
You also have:
NKT is committed to developing a diverse organization and culture where people of diverse backgrounds can grow and are inspired to do their best. We have high ambitions on establishing gender diversity at NKT and encouraging all interested candidates to apply – even if you don’t tick all the boxes described. We believe that a diverse organization enables long-term performance, and that an inclusive and welcoming culture creates a better work environment.
You will be part of a collaborative, international team with sites in Sweden, Germany, and India, where you can grow your skills in advanced CAD, simulations, materials, standards, and manufacturing processes. We offer career development, knowledge-sharing across skilled communities, and opportunities to contribute directly to the green transition by enabling safe, reliable, and efficient power transmission through high-voltage accessories.
