Objective Of Job

  • The Plant Head will be responsible for the overall leadership, management, and operational performance of the Single Super Phosphate (SSP) Fertilizer Plant.
  • The role ensures safe, efficient, compliant, and cost-effective production while meeting quality standards, statutory requirements, and organizational objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Production & Operations Management:
  • Plan, direct, and control day-to-day operations of the SSP fertilizer plant.
  • Ensure uninterrupted production as per approved capacity, production plans, and schedules.
  • Monitor plant parameters to ensure stable, safe, and efficient operations.
  • Optimize plant performance, raw material utilization, and energy consumption.
  • Review production data, analyse deviations, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Coordinate with technical teams for process optimization and debottlenecking.
  • Process Improvement & Efficiency:
  • Implement process improvements to enhance productivity, yield, and cost efficiency.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives related to productivity and sustainability.
  • Implement best practices, new technologies, and updated SOPs.
  • Support modernization, expansion, and capacity enhancement projects.
  • Quality Management:
  • Ensure production of SSP as per internal quality specifications and regulatory norms.
  • Coordinate with quality control teams for testing, inspections, and documentation.
  • Address customer complaints and quality deviations through root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Ensure strict adherence to product quality standards.
  • Safety, Health & Environment (SHE):
  • Ensure strict compliance with safety standards, SOPs, and statutory regulations.
  • Promote a strong safety culture and conduct regular safety audits and reviews.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental norms (emissions, effluents, waste disposal, and hazardous chemicals).
  • Lead emergency preparedness, risk assessments, and incident investigations.
  • Maintenance & Asset Management
  • Oversee preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance of plant equipment and utilities.
  • Ensure high plant availability and reliability through effective maintenance planning.
  • Approve maintenance schedules, shutdown plans, and major repair activities.
  • Ensure proper upkeep of plant assets, utilities, and infrastructure.
  • Regulatory & Statutory Compliance:
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable laws related to fertilizers, chemicals, factories, environment, and safety.
  • Liaise with government authorities, inspectors, and regulatory bodies.
  • Ensure timely submission of statutory reports, returns, and documentation.
  • Support audits, inspections, and management reviews.
  • Financial & Cost Control:
  • Prepare and manage annual operating budgets for the unit.
  • Monitor operating costs and implement cost-reduction initiatives without compromising safety or quality.
  • Control consumption of raw materials, utilities, spares, and consumables.
  • Recommend capital expenditure and process improvements to management.
  • People Management & Leadership:
  • Lead, motivate, and develop plant personnel across production, maintenance, safety, and support functions.
  • Ensure manpower planning, training, skill development, and performance evaluation.
  • Foster teamwork, discipline, and accountability across departments.
  • Coordination & Reporting:
  • Coordinate with procurement, logistics, quality, marketing, and corporate teams.
  • Provide regular reports to senior management on production, safety, costs, and KPIs.
  • Authority:
  • Authority to take operational decisions related to production, maintenance, safety, and manpower within approved limits.
  • Recommend capital expenditure, process changes, and manpower requirements to management.

Educational Qualification

Degree in Chemical / Mechanical / Production Engineering/M.Sc./ B.Sc. or experience of +15 years in Fertilizer plant operations as a Plant Manager/Factory Manager/Unit Head with leadership exposure
