Key Responsibilities1. Plant Operations
  • Ensure smooth and uninterrupted operation of the Ferrous Scrap Shredder and Baling Press.
  • Achieve daily, monthly, and annual production targets with optimum machine utilization.
  • Monitor production efficiency, throughput, recovery, and machine availability.
  • Coordinate with the yard, sorting, dispatch, and maintenance teams for seamless operations.
  • Ensure optimum utilization of equipment, manpower, and utilities.
2. Maintenance Management
  • Plan and execute preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance of:
  • Shredder
  • Baling Press
  • Conveyors
  • Feeders
  • Dust Collection System
  • Hydraulic Systems
  • Gearboxes
  • Motors
  • Pumps
  • Material Handling Equipment (MHE)
  • Analyze recurring equipment failures and implement permanent corrective actions.
  • Maintain minimum machine downtime and improve equipment reliability.
  • Prepare maintenance schedules and ensure timely completion.
3. Safety & Environment
  • Ensure strict compliance with Safety, Health, and Environment (SHE) standards.
  • Conduct toolbox talks and safety inspections.
  • Ensure proper implementation of Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), Permit to Work (PTW), and confined space procedures.
  • Promote safe work practices and achieve zero accident objectives.
  • Ensure effective operation of dust suppression and pollution control systems.
4. Quality Control
  • Ensure shredded scrap and baled material meet customer specifications.
  • Monitor contamination levels and recovery percentages.
  • Coordinate with the Quality department to resolve quality-related issues.
  • Implement process improvements to enhance product quality.
5. Manpower Management
  • Supervise operators, technicians, helpers, and contract manpower.
  • Prepare shift rosters and allocate manpower effectively.
  • Train employees on SOPs, safety procedures, and operational best practices.
  • Monitor discipline, attendance, and productivity.
6. Cost Control & Continuous Improvement
  • Optimize power consumption and maintenance costs.
  • Reduce consumable usage and maintenance expenditure.
  • Identify and implement process improvement and productivity enhancement initiatives.
  • Lead root cause analysis (RCA), Kaizen, and continuous improvement projects.
7. Planning & Coordination
  • Coordinate with Production Planning, Procurement, Stores, and Logistics departments.
  • Ensure timely availability of spare parts and maintenance materials.
  • Plan shutdowns and annual maintenance activities.
8. Documentation & MIS
  • Maintain production and maintenance records.
  • Prepare daily production reports, maintenance reports, and downtime analysis.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as:
  • Plant Availability
  • OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness)
  • MTBF (Mean Time Between Failures)
  • MTTR (Mean Time to Repair)
  • Specific Power Consumption
  • Breakdown Hours
  • Ensure accurate recording of maintenance activities in SAP or the company's ERP system.
9. Compliance
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and statutory requirements.
  • Support ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 management systems.
  • Participate in internal and external audits and implement corrective actions.
Desired Candidate ProfileEducation
  • B.E./B.Tech./Diploma in Mechanical Engineering (Preferred)
  • Electrical Engineering candidates with relevant experience may also be considered.
Experience
  • 8–12 years of experience in Operations & Maintenance.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Steel Scrap Shredder, Metal Recycling, Scrap Processing, Steel Plant, Heavy Engineering, Rolling Mill, Foundry, or similar heavy industrial operations.
  • Experience with Danieli, Lindemann, Metso, Zato, or equivalent shredding and baling equipment will be preferred.
