Quality Engineering Lead

We are looking for a Quality Engineering Lead to join our growing NetLine/Crew team.

At NetLine Crew we develop, implement and maintain systems helping airlines to optimize their entire crew management processes and thus enabling them to lower operations costs, raise crew productivity and react quickly to operational changes. With an internationally distributed team working mainly from Berlin, Budapest, and Bangalore we are currently supporting over 40 renowned airlines worldwide.

Due to the high complexity of crew management processes, the scale of our software platform, and the geographical distribution of over 160 team members, engineering excellence and product quality are mission-critical at NetLine Crew. As a Quality Engineering Lead we offer you the opportunity to take on responsibility to shape how quality is engineered into the product lifecycle. This is a high-impact role for someone who combines strong software engineering quality practices with strategic thinking, modern platform delivery principles, and cross-team influence.

Your responsibilities

• Define and drive the quality engineering strategy for NetLine Crew across the software development lifecycle, including requirements engineering, software development, testing, release management and production operations
• Design and evolve metrics-driven quality frameworks, including monitoring of quality, process compliance and compliance with agreed procedures (e.g. definition of suitable performance indicators)
• Establish automation-first quality practices, including test automation strategy, CI/CD-integrated quality gates, regression prevention and release confidence mechanisms
• Partner with engineering teams, RTEs, release management, and platform teams to improve quality, developer experience, build pipelines, feedback loops, and delivery flow efficiency
• Introduce and continuously improve shift-left quality practices, drive reliability and release strategy improvements
• Provide application security quality oversight in collaboration with security and platform teams
• Align product quality strategy with business outcomes, customer expectations and operational resilience goals across Crew products
• Present regular engineering quality insights and executive-level reporting, turning delivery and production data into actionable improvement roadmaps
• Champion AI-enabled engineering quality, including AI-assisted coding/testing workflows, agentic AI evaluation approaches, automated process optimization, and intelligent defect analysis
• Ensure coordinated quality collaboration across engineering teams, platform functions, release management, external providers, and customer-facing stakeholders to resolve systemic quality risks and improve delivery outcomes
• Lead cross-team initiatives for continuous quality improvement
• Planning, preparing and conducting or providing support in audits (in projects, in areas of the company, by/at suppliers and by customers)

You are an ideal candidate if you have

• University degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical field
• 3+ years of experience with scaled agile software development processes
• 5+ years of experience in software quality engineering, test automation, SRE, DevOps, platform engineering or release engineering leadership roles
• Deep understanding of modern software engineering quality principles, including shift-left testing, trunk-based development, observability, continuous delivery and reliability engineering
• Strong practical experience with CI/CD, automated testing strategies, quality gates, DevOps tooling and cloud-native delivery workflows
• Good understanding of software architecture quality attributes, such as reliability, maintainability, performance, resilience and security
• Familiarity with AI-assisted engineering workflows, including coding agents, test generation, AI evaluation frameworks, or agentic workflow validation is a strong plus
• Experience defining and operationalizing quality KPIs and engineering metrics at team and product level
• Experience with the implementation of new processes and change management
• Strong analytical and systems-thinking mindset with the ability to connect engineering practices to measurable business outcomes
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence engineering, product, and leadership teams
• Good people skills, integration capacity as well as highly developed capacity for interdisciplinary and holistic work
• High motivation, self-starting qualities, solution-oriented approach and strong ownership mentality
• Knowledge in airline operative business processes is a plus
• Very good English skills as well as intercultural competence
• Willingness to travel and perform on-site operations at customers locations worldwide
