Job Description

Job Title: Quality Assurance, Inspection and Testing Manager

On-site/ Remote/ Hybrid: Onsite

Location: Hamilton, ON

Job Type: Permanent


The QA/QC Inspector will ensure that structural quality standards are established and assessed during and upon completion of the production process.


Responsibilities:


  • Develop an understanding of project scope and quality requirements.
  • Coordinate with operations to develop an ITP (Integrated Test Plan).
  • Prepare inspection/test reports and maintain the quality files.
  • Maintain effective communications (both orally and written) with supervisor and the production and project management teams.
  • Communicate Inspection and Test results to the project team with accurate and complete documentation.
  • Identify and report nonconforming work in accordance with the company quality standards and the project quality plan.
  • Inspect work in progress and/or completed to determine and ensure that the work complies with the standards and specifications.
  • Assist in the maintenance of all necessary certifications and accreditations for the organization.
  • Prepare quality control procedures and work instructions as required.
  • Perform material inspection and testing as required.
  • Coordinate internal and external inspections.
  • Provide feedback on non-conformances and issue NCRs.
  • Track, coordinate and record all internal and external calibrations as required.
  • Make continuous improvement recommendations to quality management.
  • Other QA/QC requirements as necessary.


Requirements:


  • Bachelor Degree or Diploma of Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
  • Certified Welding Engineer approved by CWB.
  • Certified as welding inspector according by CWB (CSA178.2), CSA W471,59.1,47.2,59.2 and API 653,650. (min level 2, level 3 preferred).
  • Minimum of 3 years experience conducting technical inspections on marine vessels or marine platforms.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications
  • Certified Quality Lead Auditor considered an asset.
  • Strong knowledge for ship classification society (ABS, DNV GL, LR) considered an asset.
  • Level II inspection certification in NDT/NDE (UT, MT, RT, LP).
  • Thorough knowledge of welding codes and standards: CSA 59.1, CSA 59.2, ASME IX, B31.3, AWS and API codes.
  • Strong knowledge of welding processes and industrial applications such as (SAW, SMAW, GMAW, GTAW, FCAW, MCAW, ESW, EGW, SW).
  • Strong knowledge of steel, welding fundamental of steel, welding metallurgy of steel, welding procedure and practice of steel and applicable welding codes and standard of steel
  • Comfortable and excels in a fast-paced, deadline-driven, customer-focused environment
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written & oral communication skills.
  • Knowledge of MS Office applications, AutoCAD, and CSA welding standards.
  • Valid certificate or diploma for training related to ISO9001:2015
