About the Role

Seraj Steel is seeking a QA/QC Supervisor Engineer with strong experience in structural steel fabrication and welding quality control. The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising inspection activities, implementing quality systems, and ensuring all fabrication processes meet international standards including ISO, AISC, and AWS requirements.

The role requires a professional who understands the full steel fabrication quality cycle, including material traceability, welding inspections, dimensional control, coating inspections, and final product verification before delivery.

The QA/QC Supervisor will also play a key role in ensuring the quality management system is properly implemented across fabrication operations, while leading and monitoring QC inspectors on the shop floor.

Key Responsibilities

Structural Steel Fabrication Quality Control

• Supervise and control quality activities related to structural steel fabrication, welding, assembly, and finishing operations.
• Ensure fabrication processes comply with AISC fabrication requirements, AWS welding codes, and project specifications.
• Monitor material traceability, cutting, fit-up, welding, dimensional accuracy, and final inspections.
• Verify welding procedures (WPS, PQR) and ensure welders are qualified (WPQ).

Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs)

• Develop, review, and implement Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) for fabrication and welding activities.
• Ensure inspection checkpoints are properly executed throughout fabrication stages.
• Coordinate inspections with client representatives and third-party inspectors.

Quality Assurance & Quality Systems

• Ensure implementation and continuous improvement of the ISO 9001 Quality Management System.
• Maintain and manage quality documentation including:
• Inspection reports
• Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs)
• Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA)
• Quality records and traceability documentation

Inspection Team Supervision

• Supervise and guide QC inspectors and welding inspectors on the shop floor.
• Ensure inspectors perform inspections according to ITPs, drawings, and approved procedures.
• Monitor daily inspection activities to ensure fabrication quality requirements are achieved.

Continuous Quality Improvement

• Identify quality issues and implement corrective and preventive actions.
• Conduct internal quality audits and support external certification audits.
• Work closely with production teams to ensure quality is built into the fabrication process, not only inspected at the end.

Client & Third-Party Coordination

• Coordinate with third-party inspectors and client representatives during inspections and audits.
• Support project documentation reviews and quality submissions.
• Ensure compliance with contractual quality requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Civil, or Welding Engineering (or related discipline).
• Minimum 5–8 years experience in QA/QC within structural steel fabrication or heavy steel manufacturing.

Strong knowledge of:

• ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems
• AISC requirements for structural steel fabrication
• AWS welding codes and standards
• Inspection procedures and quality documentation

Preferred Certifications

• ISO Lead Auditor Certification (ISO 9001 or related standards).
• AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) or equivalent welding inspection certification.
• Additional NDT or inspection certifications are considered an advantage.
