Role Description
We are looking for a QA Tester — Volunteer for a 2-month remote engagement.
As an early contributor to MentoraCity, you will work directly with our founding team to test and improve the platform experience for thousands of students, parents, and coaches across India.
This is an unpaid volunteer role at an early-stage platform. You will gain real product testing experience, build a portfolio project.
While we do not provide a formal certificate, you can confidently showcase this experience on your resume as a QA Tester. High-performing contributors will also receive a personal reference from the founder.
Day-to-day responsibilities:
- Execute manual test cases across platform modules — marketplace, LMS, community, and authentication flows
- Identify, document, and report bugs with clear reproduction steps and severity ratings
- Maintain and update the QA bug tracker with accurate status and resolution notes
- Collaborate with the development team to verify fixes and perform regression testing
- Provide structured feedback on user experience and platform performance
- Contribute a minimum of 2 hours per day for the duration of the engagement
Qualifications
- Basic understanding of manual testing and test case execution
- Strong attention to detail and ability to reproduce and articulate bugs clearly
- Familiarity with QA processes — writing test cases, severity classification, and bug lifecycle management
- Good written communication skills for documenting findings and team updates
- Ability to work independently in a fully remote, async environment
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field is an advantage
- Prior exposure to web or mobile app testing is a plus
- Familiarity with edtech platforms or learning management systems is a bonus but not required
