SC/ST Hub, Challakere Campus (5-Year Flagship Initiative)

Location: IISc campus Challakere, Chitradurga, Karnataka

The Science and Engineering for Economic Development (SEED), a division of Foundation for Science, Innovation and Development (FSID), is launching a transformative initiative to create an SC/ST Hub at the IISc Challakere Campus in collaboration with Karnataka Innovation and Technology Society (KITS). FSID is the innovation and entrepreneurship arm of the Indian Institute of Science (IISc). This is a platform under Project RISE (Rural Innovation and Sustainable Entrepreneurship) designed to empower communities through technology, incubation, and enterprise development.

Open Positions

1.   Project Manager (01 Position)

Location: IISc Challakere Campus

Type: Contract (Annually Renewable, up to 5 Years), Full-time

Role & Responsibilities:

• Lead and drive the end-to-end execution of the Hub
• Build strong connections with communities, partners, institutions, farmer producer organizations (FPOs), and government bodies
• Design and scale training, incubation & entrepreneurship programs
• Oversee innovation projects, development, and enterprise creation
• Track impact, manage resources, and deliver quarterly insights & reports

Qualifications & Experience

• Master’s Degree (M.Tech / M.Sc. / MBA / Rural Development / Agriculture / Engineering / Entrepreneurship or related fields)
• Minimum 3-5 years of experience in project management, rural development, incubation, or entrepreneurship programs
• Strong leader with a passion for social impact and grassroots engagement

Preferred Skills

• Familiarity with rural technologies, agri-tech, modifying/assembling machineries or manufacturing systems
• Experience in startup incubation, livelihood programs, or innovation ecosystems
• Excellent communication, stakeholder management abilities and organizational skills

2. Project Executive (03 Positions)

Location: IISc Challakere Campus (2), FSID IISc (1)

Type: Contract (Annually Renewable, up to 5 Years), Full-time

Role & Responsibilities:

• Execute on-ground programs, trainings, and outreach activities
• Engage with communities to identify needs and opportunities
• Support prototype development, pilots, and innovation activities
• Organize workshops, hackathons, and field interventions
• Assist in monitoring project progress and impact
• Maintain documentation, reports, and impact data

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering / agriculture / rural development / science / entrepreneurship / social work / commerce or related fields
• 1–3 years of relevant experience (freshers with strong motivation may also apply)
• Energetic, self-driven, and passionate about working in rural ecosystems

Preferred Skills

• Strong communication and field engagement skills
• Interest in rural innovation, entrepreneurship, and livelihood development
• Basic knowledge of project management and documentation
• Candidates must be familiar with rural Karnataka and local languages will be preferred

Selected candidates should be able to join at the earliest. Candidates from SC/ST categories will be given preference. Remuneration will be based on qualifications and experience.
