THE OPPORTUNITY

Body Engineering is one of the largest departments within Jaguar Land Rover. With an increasingly demanding premium customer and rapidly changing technologies and materials, Body Engineering has to stay at the forefront of vehicle innovation and research.

The Body Engineering team are one of the most experienced groups of their type in the UK / HU and have the knowledge and talent to hold their own against the best Body Engineers around the World.

The opportunity is to be part of the fast growing In-House Product design team that will deliver the next generation of vehicles, using re-purposed and brand-new technology and techniques. You will be creating the future of mobility and automotive for years to come.

What You Will Do

• Contribute to the development and delivery of both complex and simple seat components, systems (like complete seat) and sub-systems (like seat frames) for both new programmes and model year actions in line with the programme timescale and deliverable cadence.
• Support CAD concept creation.
• Define interfaces and boundary diagrams.
• Support DFMEA creation.
• Demonstrate and implement robust design techniques (system tolerances).
• Contribute to the delivery of CAD geometry and functional requirements through the Virtual Series Phase on time.
• Support FEA / CAD / TEST activities for in house and outsourced development.
• Manage / liaise with other areas of Body Engineering, other functional areas, suppliers and the Programme teams to ensure successful delivery, on time and to the committed cost.
• Support Lead Engineers to Deliver the commodity plan to quality, cost and time, including maintaining the Worldwide Engineering Release System.
• Support with delivering the Engineering Advanced Product Quality Planning deliverables.
• Support the Management of Change Requests, expenditure forecasting and the relevant supplier teams in support of delivery of the programme milestones.
• Work on component and vehicle test plans, including detailed planning of test and development stages through to sign off and support Engineering test teams with rectification of issues.
• Assist in the resolution of issues with component engineering and vehicle attribute teams to develop designs that meet requirements.
• Ensure all appropriate Jaguar Land Rover standards are met through-out design maturation.
• Support Cabin component delivery through launch phase and pre-serial builds.
• Contribute to ensuring all programme design solutions meet:
• Programme targets for cost and weight
• Legal regulations and Requirements Management & Design Verification documentation
• Optical Quality and Premium Consumer Product Audit requirements
• Keep all Technical documentation up to date including meeting minutes
• Foundation and Programme Design analysis documents
• Quality history and bill of design
  

What You Will Need

Essential:

• Good communication level English knowledge.
• A good understanding of product definition, product creation & delivery and change management processes.
• Use of Digital, CAD, etc tools to develop component system geometry.
• Knowledge and use of Problem-solving Techniques in the development process (e.g 8D).
• Mechanical Engineering Degree or equivalent experience preferred.
  
  

Desirable:

• Experience in Automotive Engineering / product development and manufacturing.
• Experience with Catia V5 and /or V6.
• Technical knowledge of plastic and metal part design.
• Experience in vehicle interior component development.
