Production Lead
Window Seat
Job Description
Someone who can follow a fabric from the loom to the last mile — and make sure every stop on the way stays on time and true to colour.
Full-Time · In-Office | 4–7 Yrs Experience | Reports to Founder | Vadodara HQ
Window Seat makes vacation wardrobes for people who romanticise the journey. Behind every drop is a small, tight relay of vendors: a fabric source, a processing house, a printing and stitching unit, and a customer waiting to travel in it. We need someone to run alongside every leg of that relay — not to do the technical work ourselves (our vendors already do that beautifully), but to make sure the baton never drops. This role is based full-time out of our Vadodara office; it isn't a remote or hybrid position, since the work depends on being physically present with vendors and products.
The Journey You'll Own
01 Fabric sourcing & QC — Work with fabric vendors on the right base cloth, and check incoming quality against Window Seat's standards before it moves further down the line.
02 Processing & fastness — Coordinate with the dyeing/processing vendor on shade accuracy, colour fastness, and wash/rub testing — knowing enough to catch a bad lab dip before it becomes a bad batch.
03 Printing & stitching — Brief the printing and stitching vendors clearly, track sampling rounds, and sign off only when fit, print placement, and finish are true to design intent.
04 Sampling to production — Own the time-and-action (TNA) calendar end to end — sample approvals, bulk production tracking, and pre-dispatch quality checks — flagging risks early, not after they've already cost a week.
05 Customer coordination — Keep the customer informed with the same calm, detail-oriented, personal tone Window Seat is known for — no surprises, no silence.
Our Obsession With Quality
We are, by most reasonable standards, a little unreasonable about quality. A shade that's a touch too warm, a seam that sits a millimetre off, a fastness result that's "close enough" — none of it passes on our watch. This isn't a role for someone looking to relax the bar to hit a date; it's for someone who holds the line on quality precisely because the date matters too.
What You'll Bring
- Degree or diploma in Textile Technology, Apparel/Fashion Merchandising, or a Fashion Institute programme (NIFT, NID, or equivalent) — enough textile fluency to read a lab dip report and hold a vendor accountable.
- 2–5 years running production or merchandising coordination across multiple vendors, ideally in apparel or home textiles.
- Proven ownership of a time-and-action (TNA) / critical path calendar — not just relaying updates, but chasing gaps before they surface.
- Comfortable being the calm, firm voice on a call when a vendor is late or a customer is anxious.
- An eye for detail that matches the brand's own — because a half-degree shade shift matters to us.
Nice to Have
- Familiarity with fastness, shrinkage, and GSM testing standards.
- Hands-on experience of design tools like Adobe Suite, Auto CAD, Clo 3D
- Prior stint in a D2C or export-oriented apparel brand.
- Working knowledge of Excel/Sheets-based production trackers; experience with an ERP like Zoho is a plus.
- A track record of stepping outside a narrow job description when the day calls for it.
This Is a Startup, Not a Department
We're a small, growing team — which means the person in this seat won't have a department behind them, just their own judgement and follow-through. Some days that means chasing a vendor by phone at 8 pm; other days it means figuring out a process nobody has written down yet. We're looking for someone who thinks like a founder about this piece of the business — who takes ownership of outcomes, not just tasks, and is comfortable building the playbook as they go rather than waiting for one to be handed to them.
Life at Window Seat
- Playfully sophisticated: We take the work seriously and ourselves a little less so.
- Detail-oriented, effortless: We sweat the small stuff so the final product feels easy.
- Personal attention: Every vendor and every customer gets treated like a fellow traveller.
