Job Type: Full-time
Salary Range: $74,000 to $91,000
Key Responsibilities
- Patrol of an assigned area, concentrating on high frequency crime locations and know trouble spots, keeping alert for wanted suspects, stolen vehicles, missing persons, traffic violators and crimes in progress.
- Responds to all dispatched calls in the Village and requests for assistance to other jurisdictions soliciting help from the Village of Woodlawn Police Department and investigates with speed and thoroughness any complaints that arise.
- Handles miscellaneous calls for service (e.g., assisting motorist in emergency lockout situations and investigating and arranging for removal of disabled and abandoned vehicles along the roadway.
- Makes preliminary investigations at scenes of incidents to which summoned or observed and determines what, if any, crime has been committed.
- Makes arrests, both misdemeanor and felony, and follows through with the investigation (e.g., interviews of the arrestee; filling out the necessary arrest paperwork, fingerprinting,photographing suspects, etc.)
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications/Education/Training Required:
- United States Citizen
- At least 21 years of age
- Possess a high school diploma or G.E.D
- Possess a valid driver's license
