Position SummaryWe are seeking an experienced and technically strong Plant Manager for our Sheet Metal Manufacturing Operations. The ideal candidate should possess deep expertise in sheet metal production processes, strong leadership capabilities, and proven experience in managing plant operations end-to-end.
The role requires ownership of production planning, manpower management, machine maintenance, supplier coordination, inventory control, and on-time material availability to ensure smooth and efficient manufacturing operations.
Key Responsibilities1. Plant Operations Management- Lead and manage complete plant operations for sheet metal manufacturing.
- Ensure daily production targets are achieved with optimum utilization of manpower, machines, and materials.
- Drive operational efficiency, productivity improvement, and cost optimization initiatives.
- Monitor and improve OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness).
- Prepare and execute production plans based on customer schedules and delivery commitments.
- Coordinate with planning, stores, purchase, and production teams for uninterrupted workflow.
- Ensure adherence to production timelines and on-time delivery.
- Monitor production bottlenecks and implement corrective actions.
Strong hands-on knowledge in:
- Laser Cutting
- CNC Punching
- CNC Bending
- MIG/TIG Welding
- Powder Coating / Painting
- Fabrication & Assembly
- Tooling & Fixture Management
- Press Shop Operations
- Quality Standards in Sheet Metal Manufacturing
Ability to troubleshoot process and machine-related issues independently.
4. Manpower Management- Handle workforce planning, shift allocation, and manpower utilization.
- Supervise operators, supervisors, engineers, and support staff.
- Improve workforce productivity through training and discipline management.
- Build a high-performance and accountable production culture.
- Ensure preventive and breakdown maintenance of all production machines and utilities.
- Minimize downtime through effective maintenance planning.
- Coordinate with maintenance teams and OEM/service providers.
- Maintain machine health records and AMC schedules.
- Coordinate with suppliers for timely procurement of raw materials, consumables, and critical components.
- Ensure uninterrupted material availability for production.
- Develop strong vendor relationships and monitor supplier performance.
- Follow up aggressively to bring materials on time and avoid production stoppages.
- Optimize inventory levels for raw materials, WIP, consumables, and finished goods.
- Reduce wastage and improve material utilization.
- Ensure proper resource planning and utilization across departments.
- Ensure compliance with quality standards and customer requirements.
- Implement and monitor safety practices across the plant.
- Support ISO / Quality Management Systems and audits.
- Bachelor’s Degree / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or Production Engineering.
- Additional certifications in Operations, Lean Manufacturing, TPM, or Six Sigma are preferred.
- 10+ years of experience in sheet metal manufacturing operations.
- Minimum 5 years in a Plant Head / Plant Manager role.
- Proven experience in handling medium to large manufacturing facilities.
