An online bidder, also known as a Business Development Executive (BDE), is responsible for generating new business by identifying, bidding on, and winning contracts on freelancing platforms. Their primary goal is to convert leads into profitable sales by writing tailored proposals, communicating with international clients, and closing deals.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Platform Management: Actively monitor and submit bids on freelancing marketplaces like Upwork, Freelancer, Fiverr and Guru.
  • Proposal Writing: Craft customized, compelling, and grammatically correct proposals that directly address the prospective client’s project requirements and pain points.
  • Client Interaction & Negotiation: Engage with leads via email, chat, or voice/video calls to explain technical services, estimate costs, and negotiate project rates.
  • Lead Generation: Research market trends, analyze competitor activity and target potential clients to build a strong pipeline of opportunities.
  • Internal Coordination: Work closely with the company's technical or creative teams (e.g., developers, designers, writers) to understand project scope and ensure smooth project delivery.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain detailed logs of all bidding activities, submitted proposals, and conversion outcomes.


Required Qualifications & Skills:

  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal English skills are crucial for understanding and responding to international clients.
  • Platform Experience: Proven experience navigating bidding websites and a solid understanding of how project bidding works.
  • Technical Knowledge: A basic understanding of the services being sold (such as web development, mobile app development, or digital marketing) is highly preferred.
  • Sales Acumen: Strong negotiation, persuasion, and closing skills combined with a target-driven mindset.
  • Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field is often preferred, though a proven track record of closed sales and a strong portfolio take precedence.
