Museum and Arts Management Internship

DakshinaChitra Heritage Museum, located in Muttukadu, Chennai, is operated by the Madras Craft Foundation, a non-governmental organization (NGO). Functioning as a cultural center, the museum showcases the rich diversity of South Indian arts, architecture, crafts, folk performances, and traditions. Through various exhibitions, festivals, and educational programs, DakshinaChitra integrates contemporary relevance into heritage preservation, making it a unique and vibrant cultural hub.

Role Description

This is a 10-month, on-site role located in Chennai. The Museum Management Intern will attend classes on Art History, Cultural Studies and more. The Intern will also work in every department in the organisation, including assisting educational tours, working on the planning and execution of cultural events and art exhibitions, day-to-day museum operations, and contribute to outreach and audience engagement initiatives. The role also includes assisting in developing innovative strategies to promote the museum's programs. The interns will have the opportunity to learn from some of the best minds in the art and culture spaces, as well as curate an exhibition of their own as they wrap up the internship.

A stipend will be available for interns.
