Role: Manager-Lab Safety Officer 

Location: Mohali 

We are looking for a dedicated and detail-oriented Lab Safety Officer to ensure a safe, compliant, and well-managed laboratory environment at Plaksha University. This role is central to fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and operational excellence across all laboratory spaces. 

Job Description

Safety Inspections & Compliance 

• Conduct regular safety inspections of laboratory facilities and equipment to identify potential hazards. 
• Maintain safety standards within the laboratory in coordination with the designated lab instructor. 
• Perform routine inspections of laboratory equipment, ventilation systems, and emergency response equipment (eyewash stations, fire extinguishers, spill kits). 
• Conduct periodic risk assessments to identify potential hazards and recommend mitigation strategies. 
• Review and revise safety protocols based on new regulations, standards, or emerging risks. 

 Training & Education 

• Develop and deliver comprehensive laboratory safety training programs for all personnel, including onboarding and periodic refresher sessions. 
• Educate staff on the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and on emergency response procedures. 
• Provide general training on hazards associated with laboratory equipment and materials. 

 Incident Management 

• Investigate all laboratory accidents and near-miss incidents to determine root causes and implement corrective measures. 
• Document and report safety incidents to the relevant authorities as required. 
• Analyze incident trends to identify gaps and strengthen safety practices. 
• Maintain records of safety incidents, investigations, corrective actions, and follow-up activities. 

 Policy & Emergency Preparedness 

• Collaborate with laboratory management to develop, update, and enforce laboratory safety policies and procedures. 
• Serve as the primary point of contact for all laboratory safety incidents and emergencies. 
• Develop and implement emergency response plans, including fire safety, chemical spill response, and first-aid procedures. 

 Waste Management 

• Ensure proper storage and disposal of laboratory waste in compliance with applicable environmental and safety regulations.
