Overview
The Global Procurement organization at United Airlines is responsible for procuring goods, services and managing strategic relationships with third-party providers with the objective of reducing total cost and risk to the company while improving levels of quality, service, and technology.
The primary role of Manager – Global Procurement is to lead the strategic sourcing and category support team in India. This role will be responsible to optimize and execute organizational sourcing strategies and processes.
The Procurement team in India focuses on managing and providing analytical support for multiple procurement activities such as development of RFPs, supply market analysis, RFP response analysis, SOW reviews, conducting negotiations, and other ad-hoc analysis with the goal of capturing savings on a variety of spend categories. The role will lead procurement teams India for Technical Operations including heavy and line maintenance services, engine maintenance, components, etc.

Key Job Responsibilities
- Lead and develop a high-performing strategic sourcing team with a focus on achieving cost savings and process efficiencies. Build team’s skills and capabilities in key areas, fostering a collaborative culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
- Drive multiple procurement activities, including but not limited to, supply market research, complex RFP development and analysis, SOW review and analysis, data-driven negotiations, contract/lease management, component management and analysis, and other ad-hoc analysis.
- Identify and implement strategic process improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce costs. Develop executive-level and detailed reports to track ongoing projects and savings, as needed.
- Build strong relationships with Procurement leaders and senior internal stakeholders. Act as a strategic partner by proactively engaging, consulting, and influencing them on optimal sourcing strategies.
- Ensure alignment with business teams on scope of work and execution timelines. Develop strong knowledge in assigned categories through relationships with department leaders, suppliers, and market experts.
- Manage workload balance among team-members and allocate projects ensuring quality, timeliness and effectiveness of delivery; focus on a result-oriented, hands-on approach.
Qualifications
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Engineering, Supply Chain Management or another relevant field
- At least 8 years of relevant procurement, technical operations, finance, or consulting experience
- Strong knowledge of procurement processes and leadership skills
- Exceptional organizational, presentation, analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Ability to work well in a high-paced cross-functional environment
- MBA or Master’s degree in relevant field preferred
- Experience leading a team of procurement, finance or technical operations professionals preferred
- Experience working in the transportation or airline industry
