Job Description
Our client, a growing International Insurance brokerage group is looking to add a part qualified accountant to their Manchester based Finance team.
This growth driven role, reporting to the Financial Controller, will help maintain accurate financial records, assist with reporting, and contribute to improving financial controls and processes as the business grows.
This is a broad role, with exposure across transactional finance support and month‑end and reporting processes and provides a strong opportunity to learn the business for progression within the team.
What you’ll be doing:
- Assisting in the preparation of the management accounts.
- Reconciling bank accounts and cash books.
- Assisting in maintaining the Fixed Asset Register.
- Accruing and prepaying overhead costs for the month and assisting with balance sheet reconciliations.
- Posting various monthly journals and reconciling against independent schedules.
- Reviewing and reconciling various account codes such as travel and marketing schedules.
- Providing support with the processing of monthly expenses and company credit cards.
- Reviewing and posting relevant journals for Intercompany transactions.
- Preparing the quarterly VAT return.
- Providing holiday cover for purchase ledger by posting purchase invoices and processing payments to banking and accounting systems.
- Assisting with mandates and other banking queries.
- Ad-hoc tasks depending on month end requirements and business needs.
- Ensure and uphold appropriate standards of conduct
- Work in partnership with the other teams to ensure the overall delivery of Finance objectives.
- Work towards continuous process improvement within area of responsibilities by carrying out periodic reviews of processes and procedures.
- Compliance with regulatory requirements, industry codes of practice and the Company’s own procedures and rules.
- Compliance with FCA CASS 5, as updated, client money rules at all times.
- Ensure that any clients with whom you deal with are always treated fairly.
- Be aware of and manage any potential conflict of interest.
- Be aware of and report any potential instances of money laundering and financial crime legislation, policies, and procedures relevant to the organization.
What we are looking for:
Essential:
- Part Qualified Accountant – working towards ACCA / CIMA or other
- Previous experience and demonstrable progression in a relevant role
- Experience and understanding of Core Finance processes and outputs
- Strong IT skills – SAGE user skills and advantage
- Pride / Team playing and proactive operator
- Evidence of self-driven continuous improvement
