Position Summary

The Maintenance Supervisor — Second Shift is a senior leader in the Maintenance Department at LifeMade Erlanger, reporting to the Maintenance Manager. This role has two core responsibilities: leading the second shift maintenance team to ensure equipment reliability, timely preventive maintenance, and strong technical support for all personnel; and overseeing the plant’s maintenance parts inventory and CMMS, ensuring accurate work orders, efficient parts procurement, and well-integrated maintenance records aligned with plant operations.


This role requires a technically exceptional maintenance professional with demonstrated leadership experience, strong communication skills, and the ability to operate effectively across departmental boundaries.


Key Responsibilities

Operational Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead and support second shift maintenance technicians
  • Set clear expectations, priorities, and accountability
  • Conduct structured shift start and handoff meetings
  • Ensure accurate communication of work orders and shift updates
  • Identify skill gaps and coordinate training/development plans
  • Provide performance feedback and address issues promptly
  • Reinforce safety, professionalism, and documentation standards

Equipment & Technical Oversight

  • Maintain expertise in molding equipment and automation systems
  • Direct troubleshooting efforts and validate corrective actions
  • Serve as lead technical authority on second shift
  • Lead complex, critical, or multi-system repairs
  • Enforce maintenance escalation protocols
  • Ensure strict adherence to safety procedures (including LOTO)
  • Monitor equipment trends to identify recurring issues

Preventive Maintenance Oversight

  • Ensure all PM tasks are completed on time and to standard
  • Monitor PM schedules, completion rates, and overdue work
  • Remove barriers to PM execution (resources, access, parts)
  • Audit PM quality and documentation accuracy
  • Adjust PM programs based on performance and data
  • Ensure technicians are trained on PM procedures

CMMS & Work Order Management

  • Ensure all maintenance activities are properly logged in CMMS
  • Oversee accuracy, completeness, and timely updates of work orders
  • Review and approve completed work orders for quality
  • Generate and analyze reports (backlog, PM compliance, MTBF)
  • Maintain accurate asset records and PM task libraries
  • Promote consistent and disciplined CMMS usage

Parts & Inventory Management

  • Maintain appropriate inventory levels for critical spare parts
  • Analyze parts usage trends to identify underlying issues
  • Initiate timely purchasing and prevent stockouts
  • Escalate critical shortages impacting production
  • Ensure organized storage, labeling, and inventory accuracy
  • Manage supplier relationships and verify incoming parts
  • Conduct regular inventory audits

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Communicate equipment status and impacts to Production teams
  • Participate in shift meetings and operational reviews
  • Support Quality and Engineering with root cause analysis
  • Provide maintenance insights for process improvements
  • Escalate major issues to the Maintenance Manager
  • Represent Maintenance with professionalism across departments

Working Conditions

  • Work second shift with flexibility for transitions or critical events
  • Stand, walk, and perform physical tasks throughout the shift
  • Lift, push, or pull up to 50 lbs as needed
  • Work in a manufacturing environment with noise, heat, and machinery
  • Follow PPE requirements at all times
  • Travel occasionally for training or vendor support
  • Be available for on-call support when required
