Job Description
Agnikul Cosmos is a company incubated at IIT Madras and we build rockets that can take satellites up to 500 kg to Lower Earth Orbit (LEO). In May 2024, we successfully completed our maiden launch from our own launchpad (India's first private launchpad). The launch has proven all the new technologies developed by Agnikul and also earned recognition from Honourable Prime Minister of India
RESPONSIBILITIES
Legal & Regulatory Compliance
Support the company in identifying and complying with applicable regulatory, licensing, and permit requirements related to aerospace and launch activities.
Assist in monitoring and interpreting domestic and international regulations relevant to aerospace, space technology, and export controls.
Conduct legal research on emerging areas such as space law, satellite regulations, and international aerospace governance.
Contracts & Commercial Legal Support
Assist in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial agreements, including vendor contracts, NDAs, technology agreements, and service agreements.
Support contract lifecycle management and maintain documentation for legal compliance.
Intellectual Property
Coordinate with internal teams and external counsel on intellectual property filings, including patents, trademarks, and copyright.
Assist in monitoring potential IP infringements and compliance with organisational IP policies.
Trade & Export Compliance
Support the legal team in ensuring compliance with import/export regulations and export-controlled technologies where applicable.
Conduct research and assist with documentation related to international trade compliance requirements.
Government & Regulatory Engagement
Assist in preparing documentation, legal responses, and submissions for government agencies and regulatory authorities.
Support engagement with regulatory bodies, industry forums, and relevant organisations where required.
Legal Research & Advisory
Conduct legal research and prepare internal memos, advisory notes, and compliance summaries on regulatory developments.
Track evolving legal frameworks affecting the aerospace, defence, and space technology sectors.
BA LLB / LLM / BBA LLB or equivalent law degree
0–3 years of legal experience, including internships in law firms, corporate legal teams, or regulatory bodies
Exposure to contract law, intellectual property, corporate law, or regulatory compliance
Preferred Skills & Experience
Strong interest in Aviation, Aerospace, or Space Law
Familiarity with contract drafting and legal documentation
Understanding of intellectual property protection and regulatory compliance
Exposure to international trade regulations or export compliance is a plus
Ability to work in a fast-paced technology start-up environment
Excellent research, analytical, writing, and communication skills.
