Lead AI Product Automation Engineer

Actively Reviewing

Marketing Essentials Lab ®

India Full-Time 4–8 yrs exp Posted 10 hours ago  · Apply by Sep 14, 2026

About the role

We are a marketing agency building a proprietary, AI-powered operations platform that behaves like a smart account director for our clients. The system will work backward from content deadlines and meetings, trigger the right tasks and reminders across our team, integrate with tools like Asana and Slack, and surface performance insights and learnings for account managers.

We’re hiring a Lead AI Product Automation Engineer to own this platform end to end – from architecture and integrations through to the first version of a product we can sell to other marketing teams.

What you’ll own

  1. Design and build the core workflow engine that works backward from key dates (posting dates, weekly content reviews, client approvals) and automatically generates tasks, dependencies, and reminders.
  2. Implement client-specific rules, e.g. full approvals vs “review in weekly meeting only,” different lead times for design, copy, proofreading, and client sign-off.
  3. Build integrations with Asana and Slack (and similar tools), so that all communication, reminders, and status updates happen where the team already works.
  4. Design a data model that can support multiple clients, workflows, and account managers, with the ability to evolve into a multi-tenant.
  5. Implement reporting and insight features: pull performance data on content, generate simple reports, and surface recommendations or learnings for account managers.
  6. Collaborate directly with the founder to “encode” our internal processes into the system and iterate quickly as we learn.

Responsibilities

  1. Translate business processes and “how we run accounts” into clear technical designs and workflows.
  2. Own technical architecture decisions for the platform (stack, data structures, integration patterns).
  3. Ship a working internal v1, then iterate into something we can sell to external marketing teams.
  4. Maintain high standards for reliability, logging, and observability so we can trust the system with live client work.
  5. Make build-versus-buy decisions on when to use off-the-shelf tools vs custom code.

Requirements

  1. 5+ years of experience as a software engineer, automation engineer, or AI engineer, including substantial experience building internal tools or workflow-heavy systems.
  2. Strong experience with APIs and integrations (e.g. Asana, Slack, project management tools, CRMs).
  3. Solid backend skills (any modern language) and comfort with front-end work to build usable interfaces for account managers.
  4. Experience designing and implementing business workflows: deadlines, dependencies, conditionals, approvals, exceptions.
  5. Practical experience using AI/LLM tooling in production, especially around automation, summarisation, or recommendation tasks.
  6. Strong product thinking – you are comfortable challenging requirements, simplifying complexity, and shipping what’s actually useful.
  7. Excellent communication; able to work closely with non-technical stakeholders and translate process into product.

Nice to have

  1. Experience in marketing, agencies, or content operations.
  2. Prior experience building SaaS products or internal platforms.
  3. Experience with analytics/reporting stacks and data pipelines.

Compensation

Indicative range: ₹18 Lakh, depending on experience and fit, with flexibility for exceptional candidates who can own architecture and product direction.
