Role Summary

L2 Engineer responsible for complete administration, hardening, monitoring and troubleshooting of Microsoft Windows Server infrastructure, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, GPO, Certificate Services, File Servers, DFS, WSUS, FSRM, DR servers, PowerShell automation and overall Microsoft ecosystem for a large-scale VDI-driven environment at Bengaluru.

Core Responsibilities

Active Directory & Identity Management

• AD, ADUC, GPO, Sites & Services, SYSVOL management
• User lifecycle: creation, disable/enable, password reset, unlock, OU management
• Fine-grained password policies, domain password policies
• Group management: security groups, bulk imports, departmental group mapping
• AD health monitoring, replication troubleshooting (KCC, ISTG, site replication)
• FSMO management & role transfer
• LDAP, LDAPS, Kerberos authentication troubleshooting

Windows Server & Infrastructure Services

• Installation, configuration & hardening of Windows Server
• DNS, DHCP scope creation & monitoring (DORA process)
• File server permissions, share management, DFS deployment, disk quota management
• WSUS installation, upstream/downstream patching, server patch compliance
• RDP configuration & secure access
• Server performance monitoring (CPU/memory/disk), event log & network-related issue resolution

Certificate Services

• Installing & configuring CA servers (Root & Sub CA)
• Certificate renewals, SSL deployment, template configuration
• Certificate troubleshooting & expiry management

FSRM / Storage & Data Management

• File screening, quota management, auditing, report generation
• Departmental drives creation & mapping
• Data restore from backup servers as per request

PowerShell & Automation

• Reports for AD health, patching, server status
• Bulk user/group operations

Security, Hardening & DR

• Server hardening & compliance
• DR server setup, replication & monitoring
• Ensuring security policies and VAPT recommendations are implemented
• Coordinating with storage, network teams & Microsoft Support for escalations
