Role Description

The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, IIT Roorkee, invites applications for a Junior Research Fellow (JRF) (upgradable to Senior Research Fellow (SRF) as per project norms) under an ANRF-sponsored research project.

This is a full-time, on-site research position based at IIT Roorkee, Uttarakhand, India. The selected candidate will work on the design and development of 100+ Gbps optical transceivers for onboard and inter-satellite communication. The project involves research in high-speed CMOS integrated circuits, analog and mixed-signal IC design, optical communication systems, photonic devices, packaging, and experimental characterization.

The candidate will collaborate closely with faculty members and researchers, contribute to circuit design, simulation, fabrication support, laboratory testing, technical documentation, and publication of research outcomes in reputed journals and conferences.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Microelectronics, VLSI Design, Photonics, or a closely related discipline from a recognized institution.
  • Strong understanding of Analog and Mixed-Signal IC Design, CMOS circuits, VLSI, High-Speed Communication Systems, or Optical Communication.
  • Experience with electronic design automation (EDA) tools such as Cadence Virtuoso, Spectre, ADS, HFSS, COMSOL, MATLAB, Python, or similar simulation tools is desirable.
  • Knowledge of high-speed interfaces, SerDes, Clock and Data Recovery (CDR), equalization techniques, RF/microwave circuits, or photonic integrated circuits will be an added advantage.
  • Hands-on experience with laboratory instruments such as oscilloscopes, vector network analyzers, signal generators, bit error rate testers, or optical measurement equipment is desirable.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical writing skills with the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary research environment.
  • Prior research experience demonstrated through internships, projects, publications, or relevant industrial experience is preferred.
