Why This Role Matters
As an Inventory Planning Specialist at School Outfitters, you’ll help ensure the right products are available at the right time by using inventory data, demand forecasting, ERP systems, replenishment planning, purchasing, and supplier coordination to support customers and improve supply chain performance.
What You’ll Own
Inventory Planning, Demand Forecasting & Replenishment
- Analyze inventory levels, sales trends, forecasts, lead times, and customer demand to support replenishment planning.
- Maintain ERP planning parameters, including safety stock, reorder points, and lead times.
- Identify and communicate stock-out, excess inventory, obsolescence, and supply continuity risks.
- Recommend reorder strategies and inventory plans that support service levels, inventory turns, and business priorities.
- Create and manage purchase orders in the ERP system.
- Coordinate supplier confirmations, delivery commitments, shipment delays, and order discrepancies.
- Share demand forecasts and replenishment plans with strategic suppliers.
- Partner with Sales, Customer Service, Operations, Supply Chain, and suppliers to align inventory plans with customer needs.
- Escalate critical inventory and supply issues with clear recommendations and recovery plans.
- Improve product availability, fill rate, and customer experience through accurate demand planning and replenishment.
- Reduce stock-outs, excess inventory, slow-moving inventory, and supplier-related risk.
- Strengthen inventory accuracy, ERP data quality, purchasing execution, and cross-functional communication.
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Operations, Finance, Logistics, or related field preferred.
- 3–5 years of experience in inventory planning, demand forecasting, replenishment, purchasing or supply chain operations.
- Experience with ERP or MRP systems and strong Microsoft Excel skills.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Knowledge of inventory management, supply planning, supplier management, safety stock, reorder points, lead times, and inventory optimization.
