Vernovis is looking for an Information Technology (IT) Business Analyst who will partner with business stakeholders and software development teams to deliver technology solutions that align with business goals and create measurable value. This role is responsible for eliciting, analyzing, and documenting business, functional, and system requirements using a variety of techniques while ensuring documentation is clear, complete, and aligned with enterprise standards. Working across Agile, Waterfall, and hybrid delivery models, the Business Analyst develops key project artifacts such as user stories, process flows, current-state and future-state documentation, data mappings, and functional specifications to support solution design, development, testing, and implementation. Serving as the primary liaison between business and technology teams, this individual facilitates communication, performs gap analyses, evaluates solution options, and ensures requirements remain traceable throughout the software development lifecycle. The role also supports project planning, communicates delivery status and risks, estimates business analysis effort, mentors less experienced Business Analysts, and manages multiple concurrent initiatives while helping ensure successful project delivery.

What You'll Do:
  • Partner with business stakeholders, Product Owners, and software development teams to gather, analyze, and document business, functional, and system requirements for software development initiatives.
  • Facilitate discovery sessions, stakeholder interviews, workshops, and process reviews to define business needs, identify gaps, and translate requirements into actionable technical solutions.
  • Create and maintain high-quality project documentation, including user stories, acceptance criteria, process flows, functional specifications, data mapping, workflow diagrams, and requirements traceability matrices.
  • Collaborate closely with developers, architects, QA, and project managers to ensure requirements are clearly understood, prioritized, and successfully delivered throughout the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
  • Support Agile, Waterfall, and hybrid project methodologies by participating in backlog refinement, sprint planning, solution reviews, user acceptance testing (UAT), and implementation activities.
  • Analyze current-state business processes and recommend future-state improvements that enhance operational efficiency and improve user experience.
  • Evaluate solution options by balancing business objectives, technical feasibility, project timelines, and organizational priorities while communicating recommendations to stakeholders.
  • Maintain end-to-end traceability of business requirements through design, development, testing, and deployment to ensure delivered solutions meet business objectives.
  • Build strong relationships with business leaders, project managers, and technical teams while providing regular updates on requirements, project progress, risks, dependencies, and potential impacts.
  • Coordinate and facilitate cross-functional meetings to drive alignment, resolve questions, and ensure timely decision-making throughout project delivery.
  • Support multiple concurrent software development projects by effectively managing priorities, timelines, documentation, and stakeholder expectations.
  • Identify project risks, requirement gaps, and scope changes early, escalating issues when appropriate and partnering with leadership to develop effective solutions.
  • Mentor junior Business Analysts by sharing best practices, reviewing documentation, and promoting consistent business analysis standards across the team.
  • Continuously improve business analysis processes, documentation standards, and team collaboration while contributing to organizational best practices.
  • Perform other duties as assigned while adhering to company policies, standards, and established project governance practices.
What You'll Have:
  • 2–3+ years of Business Analyst experience supporting software development or IT project delivery.
  • Proven experience eliciting, analyzing, documenting, and managing business, functional, and system requirements throughout the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
  • Experience creating high-quality business analysis artifacts, including user stories, acceptance criteria, process flows, workflow diagrams, functional specifications, data mapping, and requirements traceability documentation.
  • Strong understanding of Agile, Waterfall, and hybrid software delivery methodologies and how business analysis activities differ across each.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, presentation, and active listening skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with both business and technical stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills with the ability to evaluate complex business challenges and recommend practical technology solutions.
  • Experience supporting software development teams by clarifying requirements, participating in backlog refinement, sprint planning, testing, and solution validation.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, adapt to changing business needs, and deliver high-quality work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail and the ability to produce clear, concise, and well-structured documentation.
  • Experience maintaining end-to-end requirements traceability from business objectives through development, testing, and implementation.
  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to build strong relationships across business, development, QA, architecture, and project management teams.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Visio.
  • Experience with Microsoft SharePoint or other collaboration and documentation tools is a plus.
  • Insurance or financial services industry experience is beneficial but not required.
  • Business Analysis certifications such as IIBA CBAP®, CCBA®, or PMI-PBA® are preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Information Systems, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field; equivalent professional experience will also be considered.
