As India Sourcing & logistics Leader, you will be responsible for leading the direct, indirect sourcing and logistics teams for India region. Sourcing team is responsible for ensuring that the specified materials and services are delivered at Factory / Supplier / Project site (as applicable) at the right time, cost and quality. Sourcing Leader is responsible for the establishment of a proper Sourcing / Procurement Strategy for each tender, on-time, correct and complete delivery of Supply Chain Management results in accordance to the project Contract, DOW & SCOPE, Master Time Schedule and Project Cost Data Base (PCDB).

You will be responsible for overall team management, team building, defining training needs, retention & growth, awards and appraisals.

You will be responsible for driving culture of Safety, Quality and Integrity in everything we do and KPIs like spend, NNT, deflation, OTD, vendor recovery and contract management etc.

Your Role

Team Management

  • Drive culture of Safety, Quality and Integrity with teamwork, ownership and nurture expertise
  • Ensure prompt and effective communication with the team (on business developments, learning & experiences, directives, processes, operating plans & blueprints and general information)
  • Ensure compliance to processes, tools, guidelines and business directives
  • Regular touchpoints/ insights/ People Performance and Growth cycles, and performance management of the team members.
  • Identify and ensure training and development of required know-how of the team members.

Supplier Management – Sourcing

  • Manage the buying process for a given set of goods. Apply sourcing policy, interface between supplier and entity with respect to specifications and budgets.
  • Understand market dynamics and support strategies for assigned commodities & proactively drive initiatives to meet sourcing objectives. Support commodity buys.
  • Assess supplier capabilities and make recommendations on purchases with new vendor developments
  • Acts as functional expert for the development and negotiation of purchasing contracts for the organization e.g. for partnering, strategic alliances, technology transfers. Provides contracting expertise as needed across the organization. Take initiatives & propose Vendor Development, cost reductions, Lead-time reduction, lean etc.
  • Manage supplier relationships in the best interest of company
  • Work across factory teams and in tandem with Engineering, Shop, MMI, Process specialists, Quality (Shop + Supplier), Purchase & Logistics teams for timely supplies.
  • Develop lean mindset and culture in the team through daily management, standard work, problem solving, etc.
  • Drive vigilance for Counter fit and Fraudulent items and develop Nuclear Safety culture
  • Overall supplier management – supplier onboarding, qualification, order execution, performance review, improvement plans, etc.
  • Drive India and regional localization program in line with business requirements and develop local suppliers for India and global network

Supplier Management – Fulfillment

  • On-time delivery of correct materials & stakeholders are updated of the status of the supplier products in line with the purchase order [PO] requirements.
  • Ensuring timely delivery of equipment with right quality as per Contractual arrangement
  • Ensuring that progress reports are received from the suppliers in the correct form at the correct time.
  • Suppliers are correctly notified in a timely manner when contractual obligations are not met and all claims are handled in a timely manner & within established guidelines
  • Ascertaining supplier related material delays and establishing back-charging process for any delays due to deliveries.
  • Work on dedicated OTD focus program and performs analysis on top/worst suppliers. Works with the suppliers to overcome delays with a concurred mitigation/corrective action plans
  • Carries out interventions or delegates the same to 3rd party Expediting Agency with support from the fulfillment coordinator/ factory sourcing leader

Cross functional coordination

  • Managing entire order fulfillment cycle and will work in tandem with Engineering, Shop, MMI, Process specialists, Quality (Shop + Supplier), Purchase & Logistics teams for timely supplies.
  • Close coordination with other functions to manage timely inspections, NCR resolution and transportation etc.
  • Engaging right people (PQ/Process specialists etc.) for first product development and machining outsourcing
  • Establishing close collaboration with Network factories for management of exigencies and offshore suppliers.
  • Attending all daily shop/ material review meetings and manage exigencies in line with shop requirements
  • Stakeholder management - Plant leadership, functional leaders, global sourcing team, logistics, supplier quality, suppliers, finance team, engineering team, order management team. Align mid to long term strategies with global commodity leaders as per business needs

Reporting & material visibility

  • Providing 100% material visibility and tracking across the organization.
  • Managing material movement between different suppliers and factory and keep track of all free issue material
  • Along with delivering on the business goals, role includes incorporating best fulfillment practices and tools (MTA/ PMX Scheduling/ MRP planning etc.) used in other factory locations and work with Sanand broader team for roll out of those practices/tools
  • Lead /participate in supplier performance improvement/ rating programs

Tendering support / Pre-bid

  • Inquiry to Order phase management – providing inputs to costing team during inquiry stage
  • Overall supplier management – supplier onboarding, qualification, order execution, performance review, improvement plans, etc

Logistics

  • Responsible for overseeing end‑to‑end transport, Customs Approvals, and material flow for turbine island equipment and related components, ensuring safe, compliant, and cost‑effective delivery.
  • The role leads coordination between factories, suppliers, carriers, and project teams to plan and execute complex heavy‑lift and international shipments in line with stringent packaging, safety, and quality standards.
  • Define and implement logistics strategy to support global nuclear projects
  • Lead and develop the logistics team and manage interfaces with external logistics partners to secure safe execution of high‑value, high‑risk transports

Basic Qualifications(requirements)

  • Degree /Diploma in Engineering/mechanical
  • 20+ years of experience in sourcing/procurement in heavy engineering or project-based manufacturing industries with experience of managing teams
  • Knowledge of commodities like casting, forgings, fasteners, small mechanical parts, blades, bars, generator parts, copper, insulation, bearings, balance of plant scope.
  • knowledge of SAP is preferred.
  • Pro-active, Problem-solving attitude, Networking and communication skills.
  • Organizational skills including prioritization and resource deployment.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions.
