Procurement Head

The Purchase Head will lead procurement for a diaper manufacturing company, ensuring uninterrupted availability of critical raw materials such as fluff pulp, super absorbent polymers, nonwoven fabrics, elastic bands, adhesives, and packaging materials. This role requires strategic foresight, operational discipline, and strong vendor management to balance cost efficiency, quality, and sustainability.

Reporting to Director & VP Production

Key Responsibilities

• Strategic Procurement Planning
• Develop annual procurement strategies aligned with production forecasts and market demand.
• Forecast raw material requirements based on diaper production schedules and sales projections.
• Vendor Development & Management
• Identify and onboard reliable suppliers for fluff pulp, SAP, nonwoven fabrics, and packaging.
• Conduct supplier audits to ensure compliance with hygiene, sustainability, and ethical standards.
• Build long-term partnerships with global and local vendors.
• Contract Negotiation
• Negotiate favourable pricing, payment terms, and delivery schedules for bulk raw materials.
• Draft and manage procurement contracts to safeguard company interests.
• Inventory & Supply Chain Control
• Maintain optimal stock levels to avoid shortages or excess inventory.
• Implement Just-in-Time (JIT) and lean inventory practices.
• Coordinate with logistics partners for timely import/export of raw materials.
• Cost Optimization
• Drive cost reduction initiatives without compromising diaper quality.
• Benchmark procurement costs against industry standards.
• Compliance & Risk Management
• Ensure adherence to hygiene regulations, statutory requirements, and company policies.
• Mitigate risks related to supplier dependency, raw material price volatility, and geopolitical factors.
• Cross-functional Collaboration
• Work closely with production, finance, and R&D teams.
• Align procurement with product innovation (e.g., eco-friendly diapers, biodegradable materials).
• Market Intelligence
• Monitor global commodity trends for pulp, SAP, and nonwoven fabrics.
• Provide insights to management for strategic decision-making.
