Client: A reputed CBSE school


A well-established CBSE school in South West Delhi is seeking to appoint an experienced Head of Department (HOD) – Computer Science to lead the academic, technological, and administrative development of the IT department.


This is a senior leadership role suited for an educator with strong academic expertise and the ability to guide both students and faculty in the rapidly evolving field of technology. The role focuses on ensuring that the Computer Science curriculum — including Computer Science, Informatics Practices, and Artificial Intelligence — is delivered effectively from Grades 1 to 12 in alignment with CBSE standards.


Role Overview:

As the Head of Department for Computer Science, you will provide academic leadership for the IT department while ensuring high standards of teaching, curriculum implementation, and technological integration across the school. You will mentor computer science faculty, oversee laboratory infrastructure, and ensure that students develop strong computational thinking, coding skills, and practical technology knowledge.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Academic Leadership & Curriculum Planning
  1. Implement and oversee the Computer Science curriculum (Python, SQL, Networking, Data Structures, Artificial Intelligence, etc.) in alignment with CBSE guidelines
  2. Ensure timely completion of the syllabus and align departmental planning with the school academic calendar
  3. Introduce innovative learning practices including AI, robotics, coding platforms, and computational thinking frameworks
  4. Guide students in developing and completing Class XII Computer Science projects in accordance with CBSE board requirements


  • Team Management & Mentorship
  1. Lead, mentor, and evaluate computer science teachers across all grade levels
  2. Allocate teaching responsibilities and laboratory sessions based on faculty expertise and subject specialisation
  3. Conduct departmental meetings to review academic progress and implement best teaching practices
  4. Support teachers in adopting new technologies and digital teaching tools


  • Administrative & Laboratory Management
  1. Ensure proper management of computers, servers, networking infrastructure, software, and hardware systems
  2. Maintain department records, lab inventory, and documentation related to IT infrastructure
  3. Plan and manage the annual IT budget for hardware upgrades, software procurement, and infrastructure development
  4. Ensure compliance with software licensing policies and oversee server and network management


  • Examination & Assessment
  1. Supervise the question paper setting process and marking schemes for internal school examinations in accordance with CBSE patterns
  2. Monitor student performance through internal assessments, practical evaluations, and board exam preparation
  3. Conduct detailed result analysis and design remedial programmes for academically weak students


Qualifications & Experience:

  • MCA, M.Tech, or M.Sc. in Computer Science / Information Technology from a recognised university or institute
  • Minimum 8–10 years of teaching experience in Computer Science, preferably within a CBSE-affiliated school
  • At least 5 years of experience in an administrative or departmental leadership role (HOD or equivalent) preferred


Technical Expertise:

  • Strong proficiency in programming languages such as Python and SQL
  • Knowledge of Networking, Cybersecurity, Database Management, and Computer Architecture
  • Familiarity with Artificial Intelligence, machine learning concepts, and emerging digital technologies
