Job Description
Job Description – Head, Food Safety Certification
Company: SIS Certifications Pvt. Ltd.
Location: Gurugram / Delhi NCR
Reports to: Managing Director
Employment Type: Full-Time, Leadership Role
About the Role
SIS Certifications, an IAF-accredited management system certification body operating across 55+ countries, is seeking an experienced food safety leader to build, secure, and manage our food safety certification capability. This is a build-it role: the successful candidate will put all required compliances in place, drive FSSC 22000 accreditation end-to-end, and take full ownership of operations and compliance across food safety and allied standards.
Key Responsibilities
Establish and maintain all compliances required for the certification body to operate and be audited against food safety schemes.
Lead the FSSC 22000 accreditation process end-to-end — from gap assessment and documentation through application, witness audits, and successful grant of accreditation.
Own complete operations and compliance for food safety certification, including scheme management, auditor competence, impartiality, and integrity of the certification process.
Develop and maintain the management system for allied standards and guidelines, including ISO 22000, HACCP, BRCGS, and TACCP/VACCP.
Ensure ongoing conformity with accreditation body requirements, IAF mandatory documents, and relevant ISO/IEC 17021 / 17065 requirements.
Manage and mentor the pool of auditors and technical reviewers, overseeing empanelment, competence evaluation, and calibration.
Serve as the primary point of contact with accreditation bodies and regulatory authorities on food safety matters.
Drive continual improvement of processes, turnaround times, and audit quality in line with company objectives.
Required Qualifications & Experience
Degree in Food Technology, Food Science, Microbiology, or a related discipline.
Proven, hands-on experience with FSSC 22000 and ISO 22000, ideally within or alongside a certification/accreditation body.
Demonstrated experience taking a scheme or certification body through accreditation.
Qualified Lead Auditor (FSSC 22000 / ISO 22000); IRCA or equivalent certification preferred.
Strong working knowledge of HACCP, BRCGS, and regulatory/food safety compliance frameworks.
Sound understanding of ISO/IEC 17021 and/or 17065 and IAF requirements.
Skills & Attributes
Strong leadership and team management capability, with the ability to build a function from the ground up. Excellent understanding of accreditation, impartiality, and certification integrity. Detail-oriented with strong documentation and process discipline. Clear communicator, able to work with auditors, clients, and accreditation bodies. Self-driven, accountable, and comfortable owning outcomes end-to-end.
What We Offer
An opportunity to lead and shape the food safety certification function of a globally operating certification body, with real ownership, direct impact on accreditation outcomes, and a leadership seat in a fast-growing organization.
