Job Description

The GIS Expert will be responsible for managing, analyzing, and integrating geospatial data to support planning, design, and implementation of infrastructure projects such as roads, water supply, sewerage, urban planning, and power systems. The role involves developing GIS databases, creating thematic maps, performing spatial analysis, and supporting decision-making through advanced geospatial analytics.

Key Responsibilities

Develop, manage, and maintain GIS databases and geospatial datasets for infrastructure projects.
Perform spatial analysis, mapping, and data visualization to support design and planning activities.
Integrate GIS data with engineering drawings (AutoCAD / BIM / Civil 3D) and survey data.
Prepare thematic and analytical maps for project planning, asset management, and reporting.
Coordinate with engineering, planning, and environmental teams to ensure accurate geospatial data usage.
Conduct field data collection using GPS / total station and perform georeferencing of drawings and imagery.
Ensure data accuracy, metadata management, and compliance with project standards.
Support preparation of technical reports, presentations, and bid documents with GIS outputs.
Provide technical guidance and training to project staff on GIS applications.

Educational Qualification

Master’s degree in Geography, Geoinformatics, Remote Sensing, Civil Engineering, Environmental Science, or related field.

Technical Skills Required

Strong proficiency in ArcGIS, QGIS, ERDAS Imagine, and other GIS tools.
Experience with AutoCAD / Civil 3D and integration of GIS with CAD/BIM data.
Working knowledge of spatial databases (PostGIS, SQL) and web mapping tools (ArcGIS Online, GeoServer).
Familiarity with remote sensing data interpretation and processing.
Proficiency in MS Office and data management tools.
