About The Role

The Full Stack Engineer 2 at Humana plays a vital role in maintaining, enhancing, and modernizing existing enterprise applications. This is a hands-on engineering position that requires expertise across all layers of the technology stack, including database management, backend development, and front-end design. The engineer will work primarily within a mature codebase built on Windows Forms and .NET technologies, focusing on improving system performance, stability, and user experience. The role involves collaborating closely with offshore development teams through code reviews, troubleshooting, and shared development responsibilities. The engineer will also support modernization initiatives by upgrading components and developing new features, ensuring the application remains robust and aligned with contemporary engineering practices. This position offers an excellent opportunity for a seasoned developer to leverage their full-stack skills in a dynamic healthcare environment, contributing to impactful projects that support the company's mission of health and well-being.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a related field
  • 5+ years of experience in designing, developing, testing, and supporting software applications
  • Proven experience in maintaining and enhancing enterprise applications
  • Strong proficiency in Windows Forms and .NET frameworks
  • Solid experience with full-stack development, including backend services, frontend frameworks, and database management (Oracle preferred)
  • Ability to interpret complex requirements and independently determine appropriate technical solutions
  • Excellent collaboration skills and experience working with offshore teams
  • Strong commitment to delivering high-quality, stable applications and improving user experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in a related field
  • Experience in the specialty pharmacy domain, preferably ScriptMed

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and enhance an existing enterprise application built using Windows Forms and .NET frameworks
  • Refactor, optimize, and perform technical clean-up to improve application performance, reliability, and maintainability
  • Work hands-on across backend, frontend, and database layers, including upgrading existing components and developing new features
  • Collaborate with offshore development teams through code reviews, troubleshooting, and shared development efforts
  • Refactor and modernize Windows Forms screens, backend services, and integrations using current engineering practices
  • Partner with Product Owners, QA, and senior team members to deliver application enhancements and modernization initiatives
  • Analyze and resolve complex technical issues within the existing codebase with guidance from senior engineers or leads
  • Support the gradual modernization of the application while ensuring system stability and performance
