About REEUP

REEUP is the operating system for regulated supply chains. We build the platform that connects the operators, distributors, and retailers in industries where compliance is not optional — where every inventory movement has to be tracked, audited, and reconciled to a regulatory authority.

Our first market is in production and earning revenue today, serving multiple entity types (cultivators, processors, distributors, microbusinesses, retailers) on a single multi-tenant platform with deep state-by-state compliance integration. We are now expanding into pharmaceutical distribution in Hyderabad — bringing the same compliance-first operating model to medical and pharma supply chains, where lot tracking, cold-chain logistics, batch recalls, and regulator reporting are daily realities.

The codebase already powers real customers: Python, Next.js pages, FastAPI routers, deep two-way regulatory integration, ClickHouse analytics, dbt models, Airflow + Temporal workflow orchestration, and a sophisticated agentic AI plane. You would be the second engineer at REEUP. Today the team is a solo founder. After this hire, the team is two senior people and two interns — and the whole platform is in your hands and the founder's.

Why this role, why now

  • Two markets, one platform. The technical thesis is that regulated supply chains are 80% the same problem with different acronyms. Build it once, ship it twice. You will help validate that thesis in pharma.
  • Real customers in production today, real revenue. This is not a "we have an idea" startup — this is a "we have a thing that works and we are about to double the market" startup.
  • Architectural leverage. The codebase already has multi-tenant isolation, compliance-aware data modeling, and a configurable regulatory-integration layer. Most of what we will need for pharma is generalization, not greenfield.

What you would do

  • Be the second engineer at REEUP. Own meaningful surface area on day one — most likely starting in regulatory sync, multi-tenant inventory, or the agentic workflow plane, depending on where your strengths land.
  • Generalize the compliance layer. Today it is purpose-built for one regulator. Help us refactor it into a clean, vertical-agnostic compliance framework that supports pharma's requirements (batch tracking, expiry dates, cold chain, narcotics schedules) alongside the existing regulator surface.
  • Ship full-stack. Regulated SaaS is messy and the fastest path to value rarely respects neat backend/frontend boundaries. You will write FastAPI routes, raw SQL, React components, and Vitest tests in the same week.
  • Help reshape the platform. The codebase has grown faster than the team. Pruning, consolidating, and deleting are part of your job — not just shipping new features.
  • Own production. You will be on-call for the systems you build. Sentry, OpenTelemetry, and an existing observability stack are in place; you will use them.
  • Mentor the two interns. They are sharp, motivated, and shipping code today.
  • Influence the technical direction. We are not religious about any framework — we are religious about shipping compliant supply-chain software. If you want to argue for replacing Airflow with Temporal end-to-end, or simplifying the agentic surface, bring evidence and we will listen.

What we are looking for

  • 5+ years shipping production software, with at least 2 years in a primary individual-contributor role at a small team (<15 engineers).
  • Deep experience in either Python web backends (FastAPI / Django / Flask) OR modern React/Next.js — and meaningful production experience in the other half. We need a real full-stack engineer, not a backend engineer who has touched React, or vice versa.
  • Comfort with raw SQL and relational data modeling.
  • Prior experience in a compliance-heavy or regulated SaaS environment is a strong plus: pharma, healthtech, fintech, payments, supply chain, govtech, controlled substances. If not, you must show evidence of careful, audit-aware engineering elsewhere.
  • Daily fluency with AI coding tools (Cursor, Claude Code, Copilot) and an opinion on how to use them well.
  • Ability and willingness to be the technical voice of the team. You are not just shipping — you are setting standards.

Strong plus

  • Direct experience with regulator-integration work — anything from FDA / DSCSA pharma traceability, SAP / Oracle distribution, NDC / GS1 barcoding, electronic prescribing, GST e-invoicing, or comparable regulator-facing systems.
  • Experience with Temporal, Airflow, dbt, or ClickHouse.
  • Prior agentic / LLM tool-use development (function calling, MCP, agent frameworks).
  • Open-source contributions, founder/co-founder experience, hackathon wins, or other zero-to-one signal.
  • Pharmaceutical-distribution domain context (Indian or US market) is a strong differentiator given our Hyderabad expansion.
  • Cold-chain logistics, lot/batch tracking, or recall-management experience.

Location & working style

  • HYD HQ - Hybrid (US time zones), — open to all three for the right candidate.
  • Hyderabad-based hire would help anchor our pharma expansion and pair closely with the founder during travel cycles. We will set up the legal entity and payroll for the right candidate.
  • Some overlap with US working hours expected (~3 hours/day) regardless of location.
  • We do real-time pairing and customer support cycles; async-only is not a fit for hire.

What you will get

  • Compensation calibrated to seniority and location plus equity.
  • Equity: 3-year vest, 1-year cliff, extended 5-year post-termination exercise window, with 83(b) eligibility on early exercise.
  • Direct work with the founder on every meaningful decision for the next 12 months.

How to apply

  • Include a resume.
