Forward Deployed Engineer

Lawgical is hiring a forward deployed engineer who can work directly with customers, understand messy real world problems, and turn them into working product quickly.

This isn’t a role where you sit far away from the customer and wait for perfect specs. You’ll be close to law firm owners, intake teams, operators, and the founding team. Your job is to understand what customers are trying to do, build useful solutions quickly, and help ship workflows that actually get used.

We’re looking for engineers who enjoy being client-facing, can communicate clearly, and can also execute technically. You should be comfortable talking to customers, translating their needs into solutions, and then actually building those solutions.

We’re open to a wide range of backgrounds. What matters most is your ability to think, communicate, and build.

What you’ll do

You’ll help us build and deploy AI powered workflows for law firms, including:

1. Intake automations
2. AI agents
3. Customer dashboards
4. Internal tools
5. Website and form workflows
6. Integrations with CRMs, messaging tools, and legal software
7. Prototypes that can turn into real product

You’ll work closely with the founders, engineers, and customers to take a rough problem and turn it into something usable. Some days, you may be debugging a customer workflow. Other days, you may be building a prototype, setting up an integration, improving an AI prompt, connecting APIs, or helping a law firm get a new system live. The work will be practical, fast moving, and close to the customer.

You might be a good fit if you:

1. Can take an unclear customer problem and figure out what needs to be built
2. Are comfortable working with AI tools to move faster
3. Have built projects, prototypes, automations, apps, scripts, or tools that show how you think
4. Aren’t afraid of messy requirements
5. Can communicate clearly with both technical and nontechnical people
6. Are comfortable speaking directly with customers and guiding conversations
7. Are scrappy, resourceful, and willing to learn quickly
8. Care about shipping useful things, not just writing perfect code
9. Like seeing your work used in the real world
10. Want to grow fast in an early stage startup environment

Who should apply

This role is open to engineers from many different backgrounds. You might be a traditionally trained engineer, a self-taught builder, someone who transitioned into tech, or someone early in your career who is eager to grow. We’re especially interested in people who want to be more client-facing and enjoy working at the intersection of product, engineering, and customer experience.

Nice-to-haves (not requirements):

1. Experience working in legal or legal tech
2. A background as a paralegal or in a law firm before moving into engineering
3. Experience building tools or workflows for professional services businesses
4. A nontraditional path into engineering, including bootcamps or self-directed learning

We value bootcamp grads and career switchers because they often bring grit, adaptability, and a strong bias toward execution. But this is just one of many paths we respect. We care about ability, drive, judgment, and output. We don’t care about a perfect resume.
