Are you an experienced Healthcare Support Worker or Porter looking to expand their skills within the site and capacity team and who is passionate about patient flow through the hospital? If so this is for you! This post involves working during the week and weekend working. Occasional nights. Primarily based in the Discharge Lounge there is an expectation that you cover flow coordinator working along side the Site Manager hence why this is a band 3 post.

The Site and Capacity team are key to patient flow through the hospital from ED to discharge. The role of the flow co is to support the senior nurse in site with this. The role is varied and can be extremely challenging. If you like problem solving, then this is for you. This is an exciting time to join the team due to several changes within patient pathways in the BGH.

Primary tasks are: Liaising with wards re discharges and movement to other clinical areas and feeding back to the Senior Nurse with this information. Assisting in times of safety issues on site. Some admin work is also involved along with end of day position calculations and producing reports. Don’t worry if you don’t have experience in this, Training will be provided.

Essential is having Healthcare support worker experience within an hospital setting, or experience with patient flow as a porter.

As from 01/04/26, the Agenda for Change full-time working week will be reducing from 37 to 36 hours per week. Part time hours will be reduced pro-rata. However, there will be a corresponding increase in the hourly rate so that pay will not be affected.

Due to legislative changes from 1 April 2025, this post may require a different level of criminal records check done than is currently the case. If the post is assessed as a "regulated role", your appointment will be subject to joining the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme. If there is any change to what is currently required, this will be confirmed by either the Hiring Manager or the Recruitment Team.
