Job Description
Job Purpose
The Finance Manager will be responsible for managing the club’s financial planning, accounting,
budgeting, statutory compliance, and financial reporting in line with ISL, AIFF, AFC Club
Licensing Regulations, and Indian statutory requirements. The role ensures financial discipline,
transparency, and sustainability of the football club.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Planning & Budgeting
- Prepare annual and seasonal budgets for player salaries, coaching staff, match
- operations, youth programs, and marketing.
- Monitor budget vs actuals and highlight variances to management.
- Support long-term financial planning aligned with club strategy.
- Accounting & Financial Reporting
- Maintain books of accounts in compliance with Indian Accounting Standards.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Coordinate with statutory auditors and internal auditors.
- Ensure timely closure of accounts.
Player & Staff Payroll Management
- Manage payroll for players, coaching staff, and club employees.
- Ensure compliance with contractual terms, tax deductions, and social security.
- Coordinate with legal and HR on contract financial clauses.
Compliance & Regulatory Requirements
- Ensure compliance with AIFF & ISL financial regulations, AFC Club Licensing Financial
- Criteria, Companies Act, Income Tax, GST laws, and FEMA regulations.
- Manage GST filings, income tax returns, and statutory payments.
- Support financial submissions for ISL/AIFF licensing audits.
Cash Flow & Treasury Management
- Monitor daily cash position and bank balances.
- Manage payments to players, vendors, and operational expenses.
- Liaise with banks for facilities, guarantees, and transactions.
Sponsorship, Revenue & Contract Support
- Support finance-related aspects of sponsorship, broadcasting, and ticketing revenue.
- Track receivables and ensure timely collections.
Stakeholder Coordination
- Work closely with CFO/CEO, football operations, HR, legal, and marketing teams.
- Act as finance point-of-contact for ISL, AIFF, auditors, and consultants.
Qualification Details
Chartered Accountant (CA), Cost & Management Accountant (CMA), or MBA (Finance) with strong hands-on experience in finance and accounting.
Technical Abilities Details
Candidate should have hands-on experience in accounting, seasonal & annual budgeting, payroll & contract accounting, GST/Income Tax, ISL/AIFF/AFC reporting, cash flow & treasury, foreign remittances (FEMA), and ERP/Excel financial controls.
Personal Competencies/Behaviors Details
Candidate should demonstrate integrity, attention to detail, strong analytical & problem-solving skills, effective communication, teamwork, adaptability, proactiveness, and ability to manage deadlines & pressure in a dynamic sports environment.
Experience Details
5–8 yrs experience in finance & accounts including budgeting, reporting, audits, GST/Income Tax, payroll, contracts, cash flow, ERP, compliance; sports/entertainment exposure and foreign/regulatory payments preferred.
