Job Title: Fabrication Engineer – Marine WorksExperience Required: 8+ YearsIndustry: Marine / Shipyard / Offshore / Infrastructure / Heavy FabricationLocation: Mumbai (Marine / Coastal / Onshore)Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Fabrication Engineer with strong expertise in marine and onshore structural fabrication. The candidate will be responsible for planning, execution, and quality control of fabrication activities related to marine structures such as jetties, TAB(Temporary Access Bridge), barges, Onshore platforms, piling systems, RCD and heavy steel structures.

Key Responsibilities:1. Fabrication Planning & Execution
  • Plan and execute fabrication activities for marine structures as per project drawings and specifications
  • Interpret GA drawings, shop drawings, and isometric drawings
  • Prepare fabrication schedules and ensure timely completion
  • Coordinate with design, procurement, and site execution teams
2. Marine Structural Fabrication
  • Handle fabrication of:
  • Onshore platforms
  • Piling and marine structures
  • Ship components / hull structures
  • Jetty, TAB and port structures
  • Ensure compliance with marine engineering standards
3. Welding & Quality Control
  • Supervise welding activities (SMAW, MIG, TIG, SAW)
  • Ensure WPS (Welding Procedure Specification) adherence
  • Conduct inspections as per QA/QC standards
  • Coordinate NDT tests (UT, RT, MPI, DPI)
4. Material Management
  • Verify material as per MTC (Mill Test Certificate)
  • Monitor material usage and minimize wastage
  • Ensure proper storage and traceability of marine-grade steel
5. Site Coordination
  • Coordinate with:
  • Project Manager
  • Marine Engineers
  • QA/QC team
  • Client & Consultants
  • Handle site challenges like tidal conditions, offshore logistics, and weather constraints
6. Safety & Compliance
  • Ensure adherence to HSE (Health, Safety & Environment) standards
  • Implement safety practices for offshore and marine works
  • Conduct toolbox talks and safety briefings
7. Documentation & Reporting
  • Maintain fabrication records, weld logs, and inspection reports
  • Prepare daily/weekly progress reports
  • Assist in audits and client inspections
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree / Diploma in Mechanical / Production / Marine Engineering
  • Certification in Welding Inspection (preferred: CSWIP / AWS)
Experience Required:
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in fabrication
  • At least 3–5 years in marine/offshore projects
Technical Skills:
  • Knowledge of marine fabrication standards (ABS, DNV, ASTM, IS codes)
  • Strong understanding of welding processes and NDT methods
  • Familiarity with fabrication software (AutoCAD, Tekla – preferred)
Soft Skills:
  • Strong leadership and team management
  • Problem-solving in challenging marine environments
  • Good communication and coordination skills

  • Fabrication completion as per schedule
  • Quality compliance (zero rework targets)
  • Material utilization efficiency
  • Safety compliance (zero incidents)
