About Spyne
Spyne is building the AI operating system for automotive retail. Starting with visual merchandising and expanding into conversational AI, Spyne helps dealers move inventory faster, respond to buyers instantly, and run more of the dealership stack with AI.
Founded by operators from Amazon, Cox, and OYO, Spyne has grown 30x in under three years and now powers 1,500+ dealerships across the US. Its products, Studio AI and Vini AI, are coming together into a full-stack Retail AI platform for modern dealerships.
Backed by Accel, Vertex Ventures, and Storm Ventures, Spyne is emerging as one of the category leaders redefining how dealerships operate in the AI era.

Why This Role Exists
Spyne is venturing into a few new large business opportunities that leverage our existing AI technology, dealer relationships, and domain expertise, but requires a fundamentally different approach to product, delivery, and go-to-market. We’re looking for a founding business leader to take it from the whiteboard to scale.
Think of it as building a startup inside a startup: complete founder-level autonomy and ownership, backed by Spyne’s technology platform, 1,500+ customer base, GTM engine, and institutional capital. The CEO is your thought partner, not your manager. You will set the priorities, make the calls, and own the outcomes.
What You’ll Do
0-1: Find the Business
- Partner with the CEO to deeply understand the opportunity, validate it in the field, and define the offering - what we’re selling, to whom, at what price, and why now.
- Spend real time with customers. Understand their operations, cost structures, and pain points first-hand.
- Build the business case with the rigour to survive tier-1 investor scrutiny. Ship the first version. Get the first customers live.
1-10: Prove the Business
- Own the full lifecycle - product, GTM, onboarding, customer success, and delivery.
- Build a repeatable sales motion. Establish the operational backbone: delivery workflows, quality metrics, outcome dashboards.
- Hit the first scale milestone with validated unit economics and referenceable customers.
10-100: Scale the Business
- Hire and lead a dedicated team. Expand scope based on data and customer pull.
- Build the compounding data and intelligence layer that makes each engagement better and harder to replicate.
- Evolve into Business Head with full P&L ownership and a permanent seat at the leadership table.
Who You Are
Must-Haves
- 6-12 years across strategy and execution. Tier-1 consulting background (MBB or equivalent) combined with hands-on building experience.
- You’ve built something from zero before - a business, a product line, a new market entry and owned the outcome end-to-end.
- Strong product and commercial instincts. You know how to find the first 10 customers and iterate until the offering clicks.
- Comfort operating in ambiguity at speed. You won’t have a 30-page brief. You’ll have a thesis, conviction, and a mandate to figure out the rest.
- Exceptional range of communication - from investor pitches to engineering whiteboards to working conversations with small-business owners.
Strong Differentiators
- Founder or co-founder experience. You’ve felt the weight of a P&L and know the difference between a strategy deck and a live business.
- Deep conviction about AI as a force that reshapes business models and cost structures - not just a feature layer on existing software.
- Vertical SaaS or SMB/mid-market operating experience. You understand how owner-operators buy and why trust matters more than features.
Not For You If…
- You prefer to advise rather than execute. This role requires building, selling, and delivering.
- You need a defined playbook. You’ll be writing the playbook while running the play.
- You see “Entrepreneur in Residence” as a transitional title. We see it as the first chapter of a long run.
What We Offer
- Ownership - A new business to build from scratch — not a department to manage. Yours to define, prove, and scale.
- Autonomy - Full freedom to operate like a founder, backed by Spyne’s platform, customers, and capital.
- Equity - Meaningful equity reflecting a founding business leader role, structured for long-term wealth creation.
- Trajectory - Clear path from EIR to Business Head with full P&L ownership as the business scales.
