Enterprise Architect

A leading global law firm is seeking an experienced Enterprise Architect (Infrastructure) to join its Enterprise Architecture & Technology Strategy function.

Reporting to the Head of Enterprise Architecture & Technology Strategy, this role will lead the development and maintenance of a strategic IT infrastructure roadmap aligned to the firm’s business objectives. You will ensure the core technology environment is resilient, secure, cost-effective, and positioned to enable innovation across the organisation.

As a senior member of the Enterprise Architecture and Technology Platforms leadership team, you will provide strategic direction, technical authority, and mentorship to architects and senior IT professionals, while overseeing key third-party technology partners.

Role & Responsibilities

• Define the vision, standards, blueprint and multi-year roadmap for core infrastructure platforms including networks, compute, storage and cloud services
• Own the strategic direction for foundational technologies supporting global business operations
• Ensure alignment between target architectures, platform roadmaps and change initiatives
• Provide technical leadership in resolving complex, business-critical infrastructure challenges
• Drive resiliency and risk reduction by partnering closely with Information Security to align cyber security frameworks with infrastructure strategy
• Chair architecture governance and technical review forums, ensuring design assurance and policy compliance
• Promote best practice standards, simplification and consolidation across the infrastructure estate
• Advise Platform and Solution Architects on major programmes, ensuring alignment with enterprise standards
• Evaluate emerging technologies and strategic vendors to ensure long-term sustainability and value
• Contribute to enterprise architecture budget planning, forecasting and benefits tracking
• Lead, mentor and inspire internal architecture teams and manage external service providers
• Drive continuous improvement across enterprise architecture frameworks, tooling and processes

Key Requirements

• Extensive experience developing and delivering strategic roadmaps for enterprise infrastructure, ideally within legal or professional services
• Proven experience operating enterprise architecture frameworks and governance models
• Deep understanding of modern infrastructure technologies (cloud, hybrid environments, networking, compute, storage)
• Strong knowledge of information security frameworks and risk management principles
• Demonstrated ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear business outcomes
• Strong stakeholder engagement skills, including working with senior leadership and fee earners
• Experience managing high-performing teams and third-party vendors
• Minimum 10 years’ experience in IT, with significant focus on enterprise architecture principles
