Role Purpose

Lead and manage end-to-end procurement and purchasing operations to ensure cost-effective sourcing, timely availability of materials, supplier development, and strong supply chain performance aligned with business and project requirements.

Key Roles & Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end procurement for raw materials, bought-out components, consumables, and tooling
  • Head engineering purchase of specialized components such as sheet metal, rubber, forgings, plastics, and related materials for new and ongoing projects
  • Manage the entire procurement function including engineering development purchases, capital purchases, logistics, warehousing, and supply chain operations
  • Drive vendor development, qualification, evaluation, and long-term supplier partnerships
  • Ensure timely procurement to support production schedules and new project launches
  • Lead negotiation with suppliers for pricing, contracts, delivery terms, and payment conditions
  • Implement cost reduction initiatives through value engineering, alternate sourcing, and localization
  • Collaborate with engineering, production, quality, and finance teams to align procurement strategy
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, quality standards, and statutory requirements
  • Monitor market trends, raw material price fluctuations, and supply risks
  • Build, mentor, and lead high-performing procurement and supply chain teams

  • Team capability development and succession B.Tech / B.E in Mechanical, Automobile, Industrial, or relevant engineering discipline
  • MBA / PGDM in Supply Chain Management or Operations preferred

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 15-20 years of experience in procurement, vendor development, and supply chain management
  • Strong exposure to engineering purchases and capital procurement
  • Experience in managing large supplier bases and cross-functional teams

Skill Sets & Competencies

  • Strong negotiation and commercial acumen
  • Expertise in vendor development and supplier relationship management
  • In-depth knowledge of engineering materials and manufacturing processes
  • Strong understanding of supply chain, logistics, and inventory management
  • Strategic sourcing and cost management skills

  • Analytical mindset with data-driven decision-making capability
