🎯 Role Overview

We are looking for a Hands-on Engineering Manager who can:

• Bring execution discipline
• Reduce delivery escalations
• Scale engineering processes
• Align product roadmap with deployments
• Still contribute technically when needed

You will work directly with the Founder and Product Leadership to build a high-performance engineering culture.

⚠️ This role requires active coding involvement when necessary. This is not a pure people-management role.

🛠 Roles & Responsibilities

1️⃣ Engineering Leadership

• Own end-to-end engineering execution
• Introduce sprint discipline, QA rigor, and release governance
• Drive predictable delivery cycles
• Improve engineering velocity without increasing burnout

2️⃣ Hands-On Technical Contribution (Mandatory)

• Review architecture decisions
• Contribute to critical feature builds when needed
• Conduct deep code reviews
• Reduce tech debt strategically
• Improve system stability and scalability

3️⃣ Platform Scaling & Architecture

• Standardize multi-client deployments
• Work closely with Platform/DevOps for infrastructure evolution
• Ensure modular architecture for vertical-specific deployments (Govt / Festivals / Enterprise)

4️⃣ Escalation & Reliability Management

• Reduce production escalations
• Improve monitoring & observability practices
• Drive root cause analysis culture

5️⃣ Team Building & Mentorship

• Hire and mentor engineers
• Define ownership models
• Create performance benchmarks
• Build a culture of accountability

🧠 Skills & Expertise Required

Technical Competencies

• Strong backend architecture experience (Node.js / Python / Java preferred)
• Experience with scalable SaaS systems
• Solid understanding of:
• Microservices architecture
• RESTful APIs
• Multi-tenant systems
• Database design (SQL & NoSQL)
• Cloud platforms (AWS / Azure / GCP)
• Experience working with CI/CD pipelines
• Experience managing production systems with real clients

Engineering Leadership Competencies

• Experience managing 4–10 engineers
• Strong sprint planning & execution experience
• Experience reducing tech escalations
• Ability to balance roadmap vs custom requirements
• Strong documentation and process orientation

📈 Experience Required

• 6–10 years of total engineering experience
• Minimum 2–4 years in a leadership or tech lead role
• Experience scaling a product from MVP to growth stage preferred
• SaaS startup experience strongly preferred
• Experience working with enterprise/government clients is a plus
